So I seem to not be able to get an answer. Why use thick braided wire? If Romex can handle everything in a house why can't it handle solar?
@lickalittle11 күн бұрын
#1 Solar is not easy or cheap, it's not cost effective or even in the long run, if you live in a regular house in the city or on the outstretched areas, you have to get separate insurance and there's a good chance you're insurance company is going to drop you. Especially in Florida and California, If you don't have a victron or solark system or Tesla you have junk it's not going to last and it's going to completely fail costing you thousands more, Rapid shutdowns are an NEC requirement now for grid installations, and the micro inverters they try to sell you DON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP.. THERE A RIPOFF, SOLAR IS A SCAM AT THIS POINT, in the future it will work, but the industry is so scattered in organizations you need to investigate the company or installers before you agree to anything, most Solar batteries are expensive and made out of B batteries used taxi units. Join the Facebook groups and ask for recommendations of honest companies and installers.

Crazy how the internet workk.... thank you for ALL you have said in this. I graduate HS in 1996. The ONLY reason I passed Geometry II was because I was wise enough to request changing over to the other teacher 1 month into the school year. He was the football coach, and I was one of 2 out of 30 that weren't varsity athletes. He taught us in the brand new fancy Apple computer lab we had. At the end of the year, both classes were required to pass the same test to standard.... both classes were nearly indistinguishable. Hooray for a smarter than average Football coach who wanted his athletes to just as well as everyone else!❤

Please help explain this to me. In the billing period of 5/15-6/16, my solar produced 939.4 kwh. On my Xcel utility bill, it says total delivered by Xcel: 736 kwh, total delivered by customer: 390 kwh, total net delivered by Xcel: 346 kwh. If my solar app is telling me I produced 939.4 kwh, shouldn't I have a credit for this month, instead of being charged $60+? I have a tiny 1 story home with 14 solar panels.

Don't expect shyness to save you with your concept of goodliness internally. Record the conversation, Get the word for word promises in PRINT and take their picture at the same time. Be prepared to be truly unkind later, and persue way more than your money back---unless your life and time come really cheap. Period. Stop beliving in supr-heros. Most "salesmen" ...sell. Or it is a hobby. That is what "professional" tends to mean to employers--because few will "emjploy workers" to loose money. That is philanthropy. Look up spme words sometimes. Or depend on luck.

Micro inverter vs main unit….there is a negative to micro….they care harder to get to as they are on the roof, therefore to change one I would need scaffolding where’s as my inverter is on the wall in my garden. Accessibility is harder for fixing or replacing

Yep…only a third of the systems in my neighborhood are operational now. The ones that still operate are routinely getting ripped off to keep them operating. Most all of the original install companies are long gone….bankrupt LLC’s.

@neverbenbetter this is another good post, but there are some outdated information in the interview. For example, the analyses of microinverters benefit vs. A central inverter is inaccurate. SolarEdge is one of the largest manufacturers and sellers of central inverters. SolarEdge implemented an optimizer on their central inverter over two years ago (way before this post). The optimizer eliminated the issues of a central inverter. Conclusion, microinverters WERE superior over 5 years ago. Microinverters are less efficient than an optimized SolarEdge central inverter. Also, saves homeowners money. If you want a deeper explanation and proof of my statement, reach out to me anytime. I am launching a series of posts in my new channel, Colorado Energy Experts. Very clear, and consice facts to help everyone make the best decision. 🙂

Ok I'll take a step above here to help. Yes I'm a electrician and have watched what is going on . Im in Massachusetts and am self employed. I put my name on indeed just to see what was out there. At least half are for doing solar. Now the programs mass has everyone pays for this in your electric bill.So these companies will hire labor cheap to do most of the work especially roof stuff. Sure you can lease it for 20 to 30 years and not pay a dime. That's what I did with sunrun. But I knew I was going to sell my house in a few years. So my regular bill national grid 200 to 300 per month. when the solar was installed about 4 months national grid bill was zero but had to pay sunrun 130 then there increase 144. I only had it about 5 years. Yes it saved some money. Now if you have your own house and some land. You can get away with erecting a system for around 2 to 4 k depending on what you need. Depending on where you live you might not even need battery's. Net metering. Find out from your electric co what they do. So your asking how. Simple these labor guys get the damaged solar panels and resell them. I just bought 10 - 350 watt panels 10 x 350= 3500 watts for $300.00 . The panels are spidered but a plastic film can be put on them. And there are other ways to increase there output. Batteries are still expensive but are coming down. Inverters have come down a lot. There is one for $1400.00 6kw and is pretty simple. So under 2k at this point. Yes wire disconnects few other things. Try not to put the panels on the roof..just dumb.. Better where you can get to them easily. Easiest line em up secure them. Or put the on a rack where you can tilt and turn. There are multiple ways. Aven ways you don't even have to move them. This is a smaller system but you could easily double it for even less. You could even get a cheap 500 watt windmill to supplement. I could tell you how to get free heat also but this is getting to long. F the electric co F the government your being robbed in so many ways . Tesla got F by all of them 😮

Wait for the Grid to start requiring everyone to replace all the parts as they hit EOL of their certifications, probably start to hit right when all those tax credits go away....When you generate power that enters the Grid, you have to maintain that system to their requirements.

Hi. I’m back. I did a later in life career change to high school geometry teacher. I’m 60. I lasted less than 3 weeks. What we really should be teaching is how to hold that “stop-slow” sign at construction sites because 90% of my 150 students were dumb AF and they took pride in it. Worse job of my life. Not inner-city or anything like that.
