if he’s on PC tell him to try using the Xbox Game Bar app instead. worked for me

No but if you accept an invite like shown in the video then you can join an invite only. (there is no way to join an invite only without an invite, however)

yeah the xbox companion app hasnt let me join parties for a couple weeks now. Try using the Xbox (Beta) app, or try the Game Bar app if that doesn't work
