This is the method I've used for 20 year, just make sure you give the half blood knot a strong pull on the mono end, when completing the knot, this beads the knot in much more securely.

Hi do you recommend to tie this way mono to mono my main line is 0.25 and i wana put 0.30 as shock ? Am fishing bigger lakes and want to cast 90-100 m

Andrew, I've seen this done with the loop, but the loop is not knotted, its done on an open loop. Then all ends cut off, slightly less size. Thanks.

I've read your comment many times but still not quite get what you mean.. If you attach braid on mono, then braid will just slide off the mono, if nothing will stop it. Anyway, when this video was published, Ringer surely used this way 👍

I have used this knot many times, and I have tried others. This way, never let me down.

Does this system applies also for lure fishing? Braid of 0.20 and fc of 0.40 or 0.50?

I would use "Albright knot" for this "Braid of 0.20 and fc of 0.40 or 0.50" configuration. It's neater.

@@AndrewsKnots Tanks Andrew, I was hoping that "Ringer knot" would do the trick, since it is more easier to tie that one than Albright know, probably there is good reason why to use Albright for that scenario :). And what about system that one end of fluorocarbon is melted, created head like nail has it and then just tie braid using uni oh blood knot? This fc "nail head" should be enough to keep braid on. Found this system on Rapala's yt channel

Ok, I don’t understand this. Using two medium-strength knots to join the lines rather than one strong knot like the albright special, crazy alberto, FG, or SG knots. If you are using a loop to loop connection, then fine. Otherwise you are introducing just another weak point in your rig. Listen, I know the Ringers (and Nick Speed who also has a vid showing this way of connecting a shock leader) are far better fishermen than I am, but there are better ways to connect braid to mono or fluoro.

Maybe a good question to ask Ringers? I personally don't use this knot BUT there will be people who will only know these 2 basic knots to use join braid and mono..

@@kondrserg Yes, Albright's knot is very good. Very small and very strong. I use it a lot as well for feeder fishing and lure fishing. Probably the only situation when it's not as good (at least for me), when using super thin braids (PE0.15-0.25). Seems to loose it's strenght. On the other hand, I haven't found a good knot for it yet. 👍👍

Ringers would never do that... braid loop knot will slip with easy from it when casting 50g feeders in to distance

The loop will not have a problem plus you can pass it trough 3rd time for extra safety
