My tip Don't think that a journal is just for writing in. You can -- Draw -- Paste random stuff --Just scribble --Swatch lipsticks or other stuff you want to swatch --Paint A journal doesn't have to be ''Today I did this and that'' book Hope this was helpful for someone.

Coming from someone who has been journaling since I was 6 all the way up to now at 23 (I have 43 journals that cover literally all of those years!), these are my personal tips in alignment with the ones given in the vid: 1. I write before bed because I like to write about how my day went (anything exciting, concerning, or whatever thoughts weighed in my mind throughout the day). 2. I don't pay attention to making it look pretty, etc. Even though there's nothing wrong with doing that but I know people can feel intimidated to start journaling because they believe it has to be a certain way, but it doesn't! 3. Simply begin. You don't have to write anything life changing. The key to start journaling is to do just that: start. 4. I've stayed so consistent with journaling all these years because I've built a relationship with journals: they are there to listen to me and they don't interrupt. I can write whatever I want without fear of retaliation or opinions, and that in itself makes journaling my therapeutic go-to!

I am in my mid sixties and have kept a journal since I was required to keep one in my senior English class. The teacher would read our entries and write comments in the margines. I would write comments to him about his comments to me. I have agoraphobia with severe panic and anxiety attacks and journaling has helped me keep what sanity I have left. There's no real trick to it. It is whatever you want it to be.

My journals have been my therapist, confidant and muse for the last 50+ years. It was there for the heartaches, for my entire educational career, for my dating failures to finally finding The One, for coping with the loss of loved ones, documenting the birth of my children, travel, moving, depression, health, high & lows, rants & praise. Every year I go through the ritual of picking the next journal. I look forward to it. Its even a line item on our budget. Also my journal of choice is the Hobonochi but honestly a $1 notebook works just fine.

TIP: - Don't feel sad because of it. (Blanked a month? it's fine, I have done it.; write one line on a page?, I have done it, couple times ; .......) - Don't PLAN TO share it with anyone else. (i.e. you can share, just don't write it only to share) - get some patterned paper so that at least you have something to stuff in there when you have absolutely 0 things to write about.

Yeah man, its just so difficult when you begin. For the first month I found it easy to write at least 3 times a week, and at most everyday. And then after that, didn't even LOOK at my journal for a whole 2 weeks, I wrote a one page entry (basically milking it) and then wrote two more times in a span of 4 weeks it was terrible 😂😂. But now I feel alot stable in writing. I've had my journal for about 7-9 months now

for those like me who either 1) has a routine life so nothing interesting really happens and day-to-day journals would turn out really bland because *the same shit happened all week*, or 2) have the attention span of a goldfish and forgets to write for a while and then feels bad for the journal, the commonplace book they mentioned is a good alternative to having a day-to-day journal. just use it as an idea dump, thoughts you had on the fly, venting, whatever the hell goes on in your head. the book will fill up faster than you think, especially if you carry it with you. also, don't be like me who guilts myself over the ✨ a e s t h e t i c ✨ spreads you see from studytubes. i don't have the patience nor time for that, and it's okay if you don't either! or if you do! it's okay!! just slap the words you need on a paper and leave it, it's your journal that you're most likely not posting, so who gives a damn if you spilled fountain pen ink (guilty) or messed up the header (also guilty)? my journal ended up being a way to learn how to work through my perfectionism. it's basically just word vomit, so go ham. and if you want that ✨ a e s t h e t i c ✨ spread, start small and just find inspiration and things you want to implement from other people's spreads (DON'T get jealous!! envy is toxic yet temporary!! no bueno!!!) have fun staying sane during quarantine, y'all.

Thank you so much for this comment! It should definitely be a more popularized/liked comment so that many other people can see it too, especially to help people gain confidence in their writing! A lot of what you said can also apply to drawing too (personal sketchbooks, which can also work as commonplace books, are meant to be where people can go ham with messy drawings and to get the idea of perfectionism out of the way).

I am trying to be regular in journaling. I always like to write my ideas, thoughts, emotions in a diary. But these writings are so scattered. Today I write here, then tomorrow I write in somewhere else. I am trying to organise my writings. Now, I do 4 types of journaling. 1. I have a diary which I always keep with me while travelling. I write everything I have seen or learnt while travelling in that diary. I have been writing it since I was 8. 2. Whenever I think of any new writing idea or I discover a new plot for story writing I write up those ideas in a diary, so that I don’t forget it. I also write story books reviews. 3. I have a diary where I write the quotes or a part of any book which I find inspiring and beautiful. 4. And finally I try to maintain a journal where I write the story of my life, write the story of my surroundings. It’s like a mirror of myself. I always come up with new realizations about myself when I go through it. This diary is really the closest to my heart. It’s my self reflection. Your videos are great. Please keep it up😊

I was also afraid of that so I didn't write certain aspects down. But like it stressed me out so much that I couldn't get it out of my head so I wrote "If you're not me and reading this, it's your fault if you can't look into my eyes ever again. It's how I feel and who I am. Get over it" and just having that written down helped. I mean I still hope that nobody reads it but it's really just my emotions at that time...

I've been keeping journals since the age of 13, I'm 16 now and still doing it. I love to go back to my old journals and read all the stories. I've never been really into making it super pretty or using fancy supplies, I just write in a cheap notebook with a random pen, which is fine for me. I do sometimes really like to draw or paint in my diary, or glue things in it I used during the day. I've never really had a problem with motivation for my journal, I just do it every evening, but don't put too much effort in it so it stays fun 🙃 Edit: it's more like a diary, I'm not really even sure what a bullet journal is, but I guess that doesn't matter 😅

Here are my tips! They work for me, and I hope you find these helpful. :) ~ Express yourself (drawing/painting/whatever you love.) Yes, its a journal but you can still do these! You dont need to have a fancy sketch book or anything. You can do it in a journal or just on a random piece of paper. 💫 ~ Dont have a printer at home? No problem. Cut out little pictures out of old newspapers/magazines. I find that vintage (90s) magazines have beautiful photos. You can create little quotes by cutting out words as well! 🌱 ~ Dont be afraid to use a references from people. If you are going to print out a picture from someone, give them credit! But you can use what they already have and make it your own. 🌸

I’ve been journaling every night during quarantine. It’s been very helpful. I bought a lot of stuff from JP to help decorate my pages. For me, I try you write two pages in my A5 each night. I’m also using it as a way of improving my handwriting and learning to hand-letter a little bit. I try to do a small creative piece on each entry. Sometimes it’s a sketch, a photo I glue in, or just add some washi tape and stickers.

here's what you can write or paste or scribble on your journal! (there's so much more than just writing about your day) 1.Your current and all time favorite songs/movie 2. A quote/line from your favorite book, movie or a song 3. Draw the things that makes you happy 4. Draw the foods/ snacks that you crave for 5. Paste little things like: - receipts - movie tickets (u can also write who u are with that time or rate the movie) - a cute random card or scrap u saw or someone gave u - a memorable picture 6. Random ideas/realizations about someone or something 7. Write a letter or anything to a person you look up to; may it be a celebrity, a person u never met, a friend, or a cute dog across the street. edit: 8. list the things you'd buy and do if you'd be a billionaire (just for fun) 9. list of must read books or must watch movies 10. draw ur outfits (from typical ones to the most fancy) hope this helps!

I’ve been an avid journal keeper since elementary school, and I still love doing it now! I keep a journal where I write down my thoughts and what has happened every day, but I also make a to do list for tomorrow on the next page. I’ve also bullet journaled a lot, and I’m hoping to get back into it! Thank you for this video!

I must admit decorative/writing in my planner plays a big part in my everyday routine. Thanks for sharing those wonderful ideas I can use to help challenge my inner writing self.

I have been keeping a journal for years. There's times I skip days or maybe a month. My journal is my best friend and doesn't judge me. I write to write. And since becoming disabled its helped even more. I decorate every journal I own with stickers. It may seem boring to most but I dont feel right when I don't visit my friend

If the narrator of this video talked with me every time I stressed I would be very relaxed🌼🌼🌼👣🖖🌈. Every time I stressed, she'd be like-"we know taking new decisions can be daunting, but if you are a more of a morning person then step no. 2 is a great way to start. You can grab a cup of coffee as pleasant associations can motivate you to write more☺️ Also ask yourself based more on important things like your work or your family. There's another way on which you can achieve the goal desired. Way to go!"

I started journaling in 1977. It's been an on-again/off-again ride. I have about 20 books. I discuss struggles that I have had and i mark down periods when they seem to occur; managing money, setting boundaries with people, working at maintaining healthy relationships. I am also very mindful of things that I believe may one day become extinct and I include them. I have transfer vouchers from bus rides, Post-it notes from offices, hippie design checks from a checking account. When I was in grad school, one of my classes required that I keep a reflection journal. A good number of the entries included the academic readings and my interpretation on what was being taught. I was not always in agreement with the authors and I would take passages from the books and state my case. I used to include news articles, advice column articles, photographs. Sometimes the journal would include my impressions of a store or restaurant (that had been replaced by a computer website known as YELP). I still write my reactions to movies. i include new words that I have learned (in several languages). I've made photocopies of simple sheet music. I write about deaths (family, friends, celebrities). There are a few subjects that I don't share... religion, spiritual matters, physical intimacy... I hope this has been of some help :)

I love writing and I usually write in three or more journal books at any given time. It's always fun to go back and read what I wrote and where I wrote it. There are times when I just write the date, time, and weather. It is fascinating to watch time pass in your journals. Another thing, I have just given up on keeping one journal for one thing, I decided to randomize my journals. I can't just stick to one subject. Haha!

Writing longer journals is daunting therefore i am just aiming for writing any length of writing. There are few days with just one line to state how tired i was on that day 😅😅😅 but it is working out great. As the time goes I will progress into Month long writing challenge for short stories. ☺️☺️☺️

I actually just finished a journal I had since 2017 and each page is for a different day, when I just started out, every day quickly turned into when I think about it, which could mean months in between, but near the middle and end of my journal it turned into a once a week back to a daily habit. Now I'm a journal a page a day girl again, but I know I don't have to be, and I think that fuels my everyday journaling.

I've been journaling for over forty years, writing whatever I felt like, just for myself, and possibly sharing with others if I felt like a passage might be interesting to someone else. I have a footlocker type trunk with a lock on it to keep my full journals in. Sure, someone could take an axe to it and get in, but the point is: I would know. For the journal I'm currently writing in, I use a locking case from Vaultz, and again, the little lock won't keep anyone out, but it will keep anyone from being able to sneak a peek. I would know if someone broke the lock or tore the fabric. This helps with that feeling of being afraid someone will read it. Also, I've written in some of my journals some kind of disclaimer like: "If you're reading this and get hurt feelings, too bad. It wasn't meant for you to read. You are violating my privacy and you deserve it. Deal with it and be glad I didn't say this to your face in front of everyone else." LOL. Before I had a Vaultz locking case, I would attach various closures such as ties or clasps with maybe a luggage lock, again, not kidding myself that it would absolutely prevent someone from reading it, but it would make it more difficult and it would also be obvious to me if someone were tampering with my stuff. That alone is often a deterrent... just being found out. So now that I'm older and have all these books, it's interesting to look back and read them. Memories pop back in clarity that wouldn't be possible without these writings. They become more valuable as they get older and older. So it's worth it to invest the time on most days to write at least a brief entry about something that made this day unique, and create something your future self will treasure more than you may realize right now. Keep writing. ❤️

im plural and use my journal for my system ! it’s basically how we communicate with each other outside of our inner headspace and lets us keep track of things that we may have forgotten about due to dissociative amnesia. it helps us keep each other updated and connected, especially when someone hasn’t fronted for a long time. keeping a system journal has helped us streamline and understand ourselves and help explain ourselves to other people who might not understand how plurality works

I have all kinds of journals. My main journal for the year which is kind of diary firm. I dont write in it every day, but just when I feel like writing. Sometimes I write when I an really upset about something. Sometimes just to record a special moment. I also have a journal for each of my Granddaughters. They record "thoughts from Grandma" to be given to them at graduation or when Grandma passes away. They include stories of things we did together or things I want them to know. I write to them as if I am no longer with them and give them advice or share about how I felt at their age. I think they might treasure this. I know I would have loved to have something like that from MY grandma.

My favourite game is Red Dead Redemption 2, and in that game as the story carries on, the main protagonist fills up his journal as time goes on. I felt that that was cool, so that's the reason why i started journaling. I've also noticed that when I started journaling, I also found a will to explore not only myself as a person, but also the world itself, i started wanting to get out more, and do much more, so I think that that's why journaling is a great way to keep a healthy mindset.

I don't get why people want it to force it as a habit. Journaling is pleasurable by itself. I'm very introspective by nature, so writing my thoughts and feelings whether they are good or bad, life lessons and what me and my therapist discuss on sessions is amazing. But i just write when i feel like it, to be totaly free and spontanious. It's so good, it's a place to be free without judgements, to be 100% you for you. I just need to organize it better, since it's a mess and i can't find my thoughts if i wanna read it later.
