This totally worked!!! I used an old phone charger cable and held the contact for about 60 secs. The moment I plugged in my camera BOOM, the light came on. You saved me buying a new battery. Cheers! ~Crystal

Thanks it actually worked! Been watching tons of videos saying remove battery, remove sd card, remove this and that and repeat 10 times and it didn't do shit. Never jump started a battery before, but your video was great and it was perfectly easy and simple to do! Just want to add that some usb cables have red and white only, where white will be negative and red remain positive :) great vid, honestly didn't expect to see the little red charging light to flash, but it did!

Dude this is freaking awsome my gopro was broke all year and j was so sad I didn't think it was fixable and when u seen the light turn on I was jumping up and down on my bed like I was three again thanx so much I'll spread this method to others 👌

I still can't believe this worked!! I thought I was going to blow something up when I was doing it and only left it on for about 15 seconds before disconnecting the USB. It's now happily charging in the gopro. Battery saved!! Great result!

Wish I had of found this earlier, but regardless so glad I found it as I now have a charging battery... I wish GoPro would post the fact that a completely dead battery causes these symptoms, would have saved me a lot of freaking time.

This really works! I didn't know I could be so mechanically gifted until I watched your video! I must admit I was a little scared I was going to blow up the battery and have battery acid spew in my face but it worked like a charm... I went from having a dead little rectangle of worthlessness back to having a camera ... now the only thing is it is still not charging once I put the battery back in ... powers up beautifully thanks to you ... but then I see it has only a limited charge available... Anyone know what to do now? Is it my cable? Is it the micro USB port? Anybody? GoPro you're killing me.

It actually worked! This is probably a TERRIBLE idea, but it only worked when I plugged the positive and negative into the GoPro's usb slot..

I have this problem with GoPro 2, so I connected a Turnigy Li-Po charger to the battery only to learn that the battery is fully charged and operational (4.20 V), but the camera still won't turn on. GoPro 1 had its issues, too, and I'm sure that I'm not going to buy another product from GoPro, ever.

ChallengerDood My 3+ Black doesn´t turn on, sometimes it does but shuts down right away. I have to press power button many times before I get it on. So what I mean is that my gopro sometimes does turn on so is it still some battery problem? For example last time my battery was full so it´s not kinda "dead" because of low voltage but still won´t turn on... Maybe you don´t know but I ask anyway if someone knows or has the same prblem... +Simeoni zZz Hi, I have the same problem. I put my Gopro Hero 3+ to charge and nothing happens. I don't get the red light on the front. I have to keep pulling it in and out of the computer and sometimes I get lucky and it wants to charge but with the battery out. I then put the battery in and I leave it for an hour. After an hour, I pull the battery out and put it back in and it works but only for 2 times after turning it on in a matter of 10 minutes. I try to do the same method every time but it doesn't want to work. I have been looking for fixes all over the internet but none of them work. Have you found a solution to fix yours?

It does now cause I bought the Wasabi charger and extra batteries. I guess the USB/charger port is defective.

Whoa, no idea draining the battery all way would be so catastrophic - what a BAD design! My kids left it on and now i'm stuck not being able to turn it on. I tried hard reset (shuter + battery + power button pressed) and might be in worse shape as I didn't know main was down to 1mv. my second battery has juice (3.7v) but still stuck. Agrr... BS!

it varies. My usb cable only had white and red, where red was positive and white was negative. I guess all we can count on is red always being positive
