If you want to justify your new bass to your significant other, be prepared to lay out some serious dough for something that he/she desires.

It's simple, don't tell the wife. I fell in love with the tone of a Thunderbird.

Haha, got it! The Thunderbird's tone is irresistible. Enjoy!

What about a piccolo Pbass? Lol I just got some piccolo bass strings, a blank nut and some new saddles and made a piccolo P. I love it lol

That sounds awesome! A piccolo P-bass is definitely unique. Enjoy your setup! Cheers!

Just picked up a Fender Am Pro II Precision and love it. I used to play a P bass years ago. I picked one up in my local guitar store and fell back in love. As for the other basses you demonstrated what caught my interest was the U Bass. I need to know more. Thanks for sharing!

Got to have the Fender Jazz. Used to have a 1966 sunburst, a long time ago. Now I’ll get a Player 2. Thanks guys.

Great work guys! Awesome lesson I can not make a decision which of them is my favorite, so I am saving to buy them all. With one exception the double bass and it is because of space. Appreciated!

Thanks! Sounds like a solid plan. Enjoy building your collection!

I’m not worthy of it - I am an aspiring musician and specifically a student of bass, but I do badly want a Rickenbacker 4003. I have played an early 70’s 4001 that belongs to a friend, and I love the sound and the look. Nothing more beautiful.
@ebassguitar26 күн бұрын
Awesome! Rickenbacker 4003 is a beauty, indeed. Keep aspiring and you’ll get there! Cheers!

There are two you are missing. First is the 6 string. Think Gerald Veasley, Anthony Jackson, or Alain Caron name a few. Next is the PJ Bass, which is my go-to bass. It has both jazz and precision pickups. I also have a G&L 5 string with double humbucker pickups.

Fender Holy Trinity ? You never gave the G&L CLF 1000 a shout out ! Why not ?

Undoubtedly great basses… it’s similar in many respects to the music man sting ray…

I prefer my G&L SB-2 PJ Bass. G&L (George Fullerton & Leo Fender) was Leo Fender's forth and final design of the Bass Guitar ... #1 P Bass, #2 Jazz Bass, #3 Music Man, #4 G&L.

TBH I don't feel the need to justify a bass. It's about getting one that best meets my needs. My current Yamaha passive basshas P and J Bass pickups, a 2 Octave neck and it is just the right weight. In that respect I don't feel the need to get something like a P bass which is heavier, has less range and less tonal options. If money was no object I might add a five stringer and a Double bass but I doubt I would make much use of them.
@hijmestoffels5171Ай бұрын
The double bass is the coolest, but I will never master it. So my second bass would probably be a P-bass. I own a Stingray already, because Bernard Edwards is my favourite bass player.
@ebassguitar26 күн бұрын
The P-bass is a solid choice! Bernard Edwards is a legend.

Would love to be able to play those walking bass lines on a double bass but don’t see one of those monsters in my house unless I had a much bigger house and budget!

I hear you! Walking bass lines are amazing. Maybe someday you'll have the space. Keep playing!

just trying to justify a simple 4 string passive P Bass. Maple fretboard, roasted neck, nat color, prob another Sire for affordability or a custom of some sort if i get fancy. Can't get myself to pull the trigger
@ebassguitar26 күн бұрын
That sounds like a beautiful setup! Take your time, and you'll make the right choice. Happy playing!

Realistically, all you need is a P Bass or a Jazz Bass
