Friends, I mis spoke when I said I teach Wednesday-Thursday, I meant Tuesday - Thursday not Wednesday. I thought I should clarify that for the homeschooling moms watching. So to clarify we have a 5 day school week but two days the kids work on subjects we've outsourced and that they can do independently.

THANK YOU! I am also a homesteading mom and grandma. Right now my season of life is SOOOO overwhelming. Not only am I inundated with produce coming out of my garden, but we weaned our milk cow and I am trying to process 14 gallons of milk a week into cheese and butter. I have been struggling with feeling like everything is a mess. Knowing others are also doing it, but seeing it can be done eventually makes my days better. ❤️

This was so refreshing. I can relate on many levels - like when you talked about how the Lord answered your prayers about your homeschool schedule. The Lord has given me many ideas that have allowed our homeschool to function smoothly this year, and I am so grateful. I love that verse! Thanks for another lovely video, Shayla. ♡

I have just spent the last 2 weeks trying to get my house 'in order' & do some proactive spring cleaning. I was anticipating huge messes piling up in response to our cow that was due to freshen any day. I was envisioning a bunch of dairy & jars & time concentrated on figuring out what the heck I was doing. And then yesterday, the terrible news....the calf was born healthy, but within the day our cow died. I am so full of sorrow. I have waited many, many years & prayed many, many prayers. I know that God will "mend the broken-hearted", and that God's ways are not our ways, but it is so hard to swallow. It was the last piece of our puzzle to be pretty much independent of the commercial agriculture system. I am so sad that the cow suffered & that the calf is left without a mother. This seemed to be a 'once in a lifetime' chance, as the cow resided at my in-laws, up the road, who run a BEEF operation & are not in the business of keeping any dairy cows since the 70s. This nice jersey cow showed up as a calf replacement for an angus that lost her calf 4 years ago & no one could bear to part with this friendly girl. She was so sweet. And now we are all heartbroken & hopes dashed. I have tried to be better at understanding that "messes mean progresses" & was not getting too worked up about the imminent mess. Feeling real low.

I am so sorry. I know this comment was left 7 months ago, but I hope you were able to get another dairy cow since then.

This is our homestead as well. I just told my hubby that I wanted to create a homemaking, kitchen work days on Mondays and Fridays so we will do Bible and basics and the other days we will add the riches and more read alouds and hands on stuff. We will see. But man it’s been wild to figure out how to navigate homestead life with homeschooling. Thank you for this video. So nice to see.

Hello!! I'm sorry it took so long to respond to your comment. I can definitely agree, balancing homestead with homeschooling was a learning curve for sure. I feel like we are finally getting the hang of it! The learning curve was stressful so I'm glad we finally found a groove.

Thank you so much for this. I don't have as many children or as much going on in my home, but I am in a season of feeling so overwhelmed and inadequate in regard to homemaking and homeschooling. Your sweet reminder of all that I am blessed with is good for my soul.

Have you tried cleaning organization apps such as FlyLady? I customized my own rotating cleaning lists there. Mondays clean bathrooms; Tuesdays clean kitchen; Wednesdays clean living & dining rooms; Thursdays clean bedrooms; Fridays do errands & special projects. I also have monthly lists for window cleaning, cleaning the patio, courtyard, porch, my car, etc. Another list for special cleaning out projects. On the weekends I do fun stuff. Now I'm early retired and have a son who just graduated high school. Husband still works.

I do the same thing with trying to rearrange things and only using what I already have. I love how you decorate your home. I have a small galley kitchen so it’s challenging. I told my children about the 10min cleanup and my oldest daughter asked me to set a timer. Thank you for that tip! I loved hearing how God provides your hearts desire especially when you’re not expecting it. He’s such an amazing Father. Can’t wait for your next video.

I think I recall you saying once that you have a Neurodivergent child? Can you tell me in which direction you’re going to steer this child in regards to future work/employment? I need some ideas. I don’t live in the country, though, like you, I live in the city.
@mountainmamashome Жыл бұрын
Hello Michelle! Yes, the most neurodivergent one is going to start out building his resume and is leaning towards the trades, just not sure which one yet. I suspect he will end up learning a few trades related to carpentery though.

You got married in 2004 that you are working on 20 years of marriage (which is the year I married too)? Or did you say "28" years. Love your home!! That drain looks great! I have a clogged kitchen sink right now, and have never had that in the fifteen years we've lived here. I am trying to unclog it while watching this video! I have a drain strainer similar to yours too but my husband sometimes takes it out even though I tell him to please keep it in . . .so I wonder if that is why we have a clog. Love the new paint jobs your helpers did for you.
