A person could be taken as a slave if he was a prisoner of war, if he couldn't pay a debt, if he stole something that he couldn't repay, etc. However, there were laws governing how slaves could be treated and also ways they could gain their freedom. It's important to realize that we view the subject through the lens of American slavery, with its incredible cruelty. To be a slave in Bible times was more like being a modern-day servant. In fact, the Bible uses the word "bondservant" when referring to slaves, and instructs masters to treat them kindly (Eph. 6:5-9). The apostle Paul speaks of Christians as being "slaves" of God and of Jesus Christ (Rom. 6:22; 1 Cor. 7:22).

That's a big jump to conclusion to say those that want to use a different tactic to approach an opposition are scared of using scripture. There is no "pick one," you can have it both ways. As much as i respect Voddie and admire him, this was a big jump in the wrong direction to prove his point. I will not win a debate with an atheist in a pro life argument if I only point out scripture. From their pov, it's like someone telling me to believe in santa because present are under the tree. No one is saying jesus is irrelevant if i decide to say that a heart beat develops at 6 weeks. No one. Science does not contradict, nor cast aside God. Rather, it compliments the unique and inherit design of creation from God. If the topic creates an opening to bring in jesus, take it. If it doesnt, make one. There is no one or the other.

@DT-abcd you are not understanding, my friend. Pastor Voddie is talking about having a ministry that doesn't put Jesus Christ at the center. It calls itself a Christian organization but doesn't include teaching the gospel. That's their official organizational position. Can you understand what I'm trying to say. My belief is what Christ said "Go and make disciples," and that didn't mean go join an organization to tell people about the Good News of the Gospel of Peace. The mission field is everywhere I am. I don't need to join the Salvation Army. I need to pray for that once Godly organization who decided recently to jettison the Gospel from their ministry. Can you understand me now? Pastor Voddie is talking about just this sort of thing. When people, churches, and so called Christian organizations dont speak about the Gospel, because they are afraid. If I were to join the Salvation Army, they would tell me that preaching the gospel is not what they do because it's not part of their ministry anymore. They would tell me not to. So, since it's not necessary to join an organization to tell people about the gospel, why would I want to join them. I'll tell you what, I will let God deal with the unfaithful Salvation Army, while love my neighbor, which means anyone near me, about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Love of Christ with just and The Holy Spirit. ❤️❤️❤️

I love voddie but his teachings in this video are contrary to his calvinism. When he says they are condemning people to hell by denying them the gospel, that is impossible under calvnism. Those people would be in heaven or hell regardless because of predestination
