Yes, you need water when you are suiting but another very important thing is minerals along with the water, If you don't get the right amount of minerals (salt and magnesium) you will get very sick

@vampirefox975 жыл бұрын
Electrolytes! They help balance out the water in your body and give you more energy. You lose electrolytes in your sweat, so you need to replace them. Gatorade and other sports drinks contain electrolytes (as well as loads of sweeteners to balance out the salty flavor lmao). You can also make a really simple electrolyte lemonade by adding a little bit of salt to your lemonade, if you wanna control the amount of sugar you're taking in, like I am.

After watching a few (ok more than a few) videos on your first fursuit or fursuit construction, I came up with the design for mine. Apparently I broke almost every single rule of making your first one. I went with realistic, full body, didgitgrade, resin head, airbrushed and glass eyes. The only thing I seem to have done right is I have an ez-cooldown vest that was worn under the DTD. Only time will tell how long I'll be able to stay in suit.

I'm watching this because I'm British and live in the UK and it's the middle of summer and I want to get a fursuit! Also, speaking of sleep, I didn't get much sleep last night, so I ended up going to school exhausted and slept in the nurse's office. But, the surface I slept on gave me lower back pain and I threw up twice because of the excessive pain and had to be sent home. But, before going home, the school nurse gave me some paracetamol (with my dad's permission) for my back pain and now it doesn't hurt anymore :D But, I'll be staying home for 48 hours and that includes Wednesday because I threw up at lunchtime... Also, I'm naturally extremely pale and somehow looked even more pale today because of the incident

Battery powered fans that are used for blowing up inflatable costumes (like those dinosaur costumes). You can get them on Amazon. They are BY FAR better than any handheld fan I've ever come across (I'm looking at you, $5 neck fans from Walmart that seem to be super popular in the last couple years). They can fit inside a muzzle of most fursuits for easy access, or sneak under a neck flap and such. 10/10 would recommend. They last quite a while, too, and aren't too much louder than other fans. I bring a bunch whenever I go to BLFC in case I see fursuiters who are standing in line, or waiting for the big fursuit photo (THE WORST XD ), or otherwise look hot. Speaking of lines, MOVE! MOVING HELPS! The airflow makes your suit breathe better! I don't mean go running and dancing and such, but walking will feel better than standing still.

Phase change technology is more expensive, but the materials science is cool (pun intended), and the material will freeze at a moderate temperature (e.g., 58 F for one brand). I prefer them over ice packs. They are also readily available for neck wraps, vests, etc., and some designs allow changing out the packs so that you do not have to wait for the entire vest to get cold again. Just a thought for an alternative.

I'm actually engineering a simple head fan for my suit. The head went into production 2 nights ago. I'm using a 50x50mm BLOWER type fan from a large laptop. It'll be powered by 8 Rechargable AA batteries and should last about 15 hours on a single charge. You NEED RECHARGABLE batteries. Standard Alkaline batteries can't handle the high draw of a fan for quite as long, and as such, wastes batteries. Just spend a few bucks on a good set of rechargable AAs and a good charger. AAAs would work, but won't last as long. My head is being built pretty toony, so the huge snout will store the battery box and it should sit fine in the lower jaw of the head. Haven't test fitted anything just yet

My biggest enemy when I am suiting is Humidity. Humidity can make me overheat really fast even if the temperature is in the 50s. High Humidity causes you to sweat quicker which leads to dehydration much quicker and overheating. On the other hand, if I am in an environment where there's little to no humidity such as Denver or New Mexico. I can suit for a very long time even with the temperature in the mid 90s. I noticed this for the first time I was suiting in New Mexico traveling Route 66 and was surprised by the temperature reading in the mid 90s. (Another example of this is where you see people in the hot desert in full covering, it keeps you insulated from the heat) It didn't even feel that hot underneath the fur. Humidity is my biggest factor in suit comfort. BTW Stormi, you are better off if you have your Airconditioner on when filming on a lower temperature. Film Stages keep the Airconditioner in the lower 60s.
@StormiFolf5 жыл бұрын
I've actually started using my a/c no matter what during filming at this point (unless it's genuinely cold enough outside, which it almost never is). The background noise is hardly noticeable at this point with my new mic x3 humidity here is INSANE basically all year round with November-February being the exception.

Another way to get adjusted to fursuiting faster is to wear heavier clothing during the summer (but still taking breaks and drinking plenty of water). The more your body gets adjusted to the heat, the longer you can go. So to the new suiters out there, Plan ahead and try to get adjust before getting a suit. I dont care for the EZ Cool cooling vest. I like my industrial / construction wooker cooling vest instead. Both EZ Cool and my vest use the same or very simaler cooling inserts. I bought my cooling vest for like half of what EZ Cooling vests where going for at the time that I bought mine. I bought an extra set of inserts for my vest so I dont have have to wait for them to refreeze I just have to swop the used ones for the new ones and head out fursuiting again. And even getting the extra inserts my vest cost me a lot less than a EZ Cooling vest would have with just the one set of inserts. EZ Cooling vests are less affective as they have netting on the out side of the vest which means they absorb heat from the room and less from your body. My cooling vest has thick canvas on the out side of the vest so it wont absorb as much heat from out side of my fursuit. Another advantage of having a canvas external vest is that it can take a great deal of punishment and not rip. My vest had been cut and it was an easy matter to sow it up again. The netting from a EZ Cooling vest can get caught on lots of things like a zipper and rip. If the netting gets ripped to bad you cant just sow it up you have to buy a new really expensive vest. I highly recommend cooling vests but just dont buy what furs are trying to sell you look around and find what would be best for what you need and what you can spend on keeping your self cool.
