There is a product called mosquito bits, the Dunks in a granular form. I use it in my plants and skimmer basket if we will be gone for more then a few day

@@diane8885 Oh nice! That's a great idea to put in your skimmer basket when you're gone

If it's a neighbor's pool that's become a swampy black lagoon full of skeeters, chuck an open quart or two of cheap, or used, motor oil over the fence like a hand grenade. Nothing like an oil slick to make a pool "larvae resistant". Works like a champ!

Amazing tips. Just added a bunch of stuff to my cart based on your tips. Mosquitoes are crazy in So Cal this year.

Bug traps and zappers kill beetles. Beetles eat mosquitoes. So do other bugs. Also kill pollinating insects like moths Basically the machines are counterproductive and many dont work well on mosquitoes
@AceRamone Жыл бұрын
The only thing I take exception with are the electronic bug zappers. I did a lot of research and purchased one myself. They kill too many beneficial insects to be good for the environment

I'm confused. Are people actually covering their pool during pool season? I either close it for the winter or it's open everyday
@sonjakeesee69776 ай бұрын
I close it at night only to keep bugs out otherwise well if nobody is in it I do cover it because I don’t have any little kids anymore. My kids are all grown up. They all live at home of them do like 3 out of 6 but my husband and I are the only ones that these days, extremely hard days if we’re not in the pool covered to make sure it’s warm for the next time I get in

How do I get rid of the larvae if I’ve shocked it and filtered it almost around the clock? If I use the rings can we still swim in it? Will it affect the chemicals? I don’t want to drain my pool it’s 5,600 gallons
@Ihavetocorrectyou Жыл бұрын
In the video he says it's non harmful to humans and safe for swimmers to swim in.
@melanieross5871 Жыл бұрын
Update! For anyone else wondering…I ended up getting a better cover and when I shocked the pool I left the cover on for 2 days straight and ran the filter. We have a sand filter so I had to rinse the sand with the hose to get all the dead larvae out of the filter (it was A LOT). Lesson learned: a proper pool cover has been the best for prevention for sure.

Okay guys, I’m gonna bind here. I need to know how to keep earwigs out of my pool for some reason they are obsessed with it. I keep the grass cut around my pool. I keep vegetation away from my pool. I’m trying to do what I can. I have no allergy in my pool either, but I can’t seem to keep earwigs out. My whole neighbourhood has a problem so I put horsefly traps up and that seems to take care of that problem but darn earwigs are going to be the death of me. Please help, please help please help.
