How to keymap a Guitar Hero controller for Friday Night Funkin (updated version)

So I had a similar video on my other channel (TheSandwichSlayer), but in attempt to erase cringe comments from my 13 year old self, I hid my channel and couldnt retrieve it (as of 4/30/21). And so, the original video was gone. So I made this new one to replace it. Hope you find it useful.

So it's all mapped right... Except on my GH controller, bklue is mapped as three and yellow is mapped as four. Any solutions? Calibration doesn't help in this situation.

Either it's a hardware problem or you just need to remap it

when pressing any buttons it doesnt detect it whatsoever is there a reason to this? and how to fix it?

I would suggest remapping it or checking if it works with other games such as Clone Hero or BeamNG:Drive (games with built in mapping) to see if your hardware is defective.

That sounds like either a faulty adapter or a faulty guitar, either that or keymapper is messed up somehow (try reinstalling it)

when i press yellow, it just fails me

A lot of people seem to have that problem. The current working theory is that your guitar controller needs to be in the "Joystick 2" position, meaning you should unplug your guitar, plug in a different controller (like an Xbox controller) that will serve as "Joystick 1". Then plug in your guitar and in theory you should be good to go. This also works best if you have a USB hub connected.

You don't need strum for FNF, it's basically equivalent to All Taps mode on Clone Hero

I wouldn't recommend it due to the turntable only having 3 buttons, but theoretically, with a Wii turntable and Raphnet adapter or a wired Xbox 360 turntable, it might work. I personally don't have a turntable to test this with but I might do a video on that in future

UPDATE: There is no such thing as a wired Xbox 360 turntable, so I'd recommend the Wii one but you can probably get away with the PS3 one with the appropriate dongle

@@woqey43 for a Wii guitar or Wii turntable, you will want to buy a "raphnet" adapter ($30 including shipping, if I recall correctly) which includes a dongle that you plug one end into the nunchuck cord on the controller and the other end into a USB port (it has a 6 foot cable)

I found that the solution to this is to have an Xbox controller or something as joystick 1, and have the guitar controller as joystick 2

@@williamcortesi4076 I dont know exactly what causes this problem, my guess is either something wrong with the keymapper (try using a different one, such as Xpadder) or your guitar is broken
