Hey Matt. Not sure if you’re gonna have the time to reply to my comment but I just wanna thank you for your videos and all the content you make available. I’m 36 , played pro soccer in the 2nd league of Romania..came to the states when i was 23. Since then i just played amateur level being unable to continue my career at the same level in U.S. Your videos are helping me and motivating me to continue playing even now at this age and to continue train for my personal goals. Currently i’m preparing for a tournament wich will take place in april and altough I don’t have a team yet, I’m thinking positive and with the help of your videos and your advice, for sure I’ll be able to find one pretty soon! Many thanks and one more thing... I’m a fan of Football Manager ( the PC game) and i just signed you for my team.. you were a free agent , just finished your contract with Tulsa. I’ll post a picture soon 😊 Looking forward for you next videos and good luck with your career!

I wish I had this video 30 years ago when I started in soccer. Stiking the ball was a bit of a mystery to me and just had to figure it out over a long period of time by myself as coaches never really went through this with me. Definitely going to coach my kids up on this stuff now. Great stuff.

in the chipped long ball, you'll often see professional players hit this pass with no follow through. They'll just stab low on the ball, but they can get amazing distances. Bayern's Alaba is great at this.

Matt, thanks for the detailed video with some great footage. If you make a video again on this topic, I would strongly recommend you discuss the technique of the follow through. Young players have a hard time adjusting their follow through for these kicks compared to shooting and it's a very critical part of the overall technique for each one of these kicks as I'm sure you'd agree. In fact, in this video, you can see how the varying heights of your follow throughs affect the ball's trajectory. The point of contact between the foot and ball, which you do stress very well in this video, affects the power/speed that the ball moves and height of course, but the follow through (with sole of foot facing downward, sweeping across standing leg) affects the height of the ball as well because it helps to keep the foot low immediately after contact which enables you to get under the ball or strike through the ball the entire way. Also, you can see in this video how your knuckle ball follow through is very different compared to the other kicking techniques.... which are all different from a shooting technique. Keep up the great work!
