I've had untreated stumps sprout from the cambium. Re-cutting just below them and applying right away always works for me. Tordon is tough to beat for olives. Expect many more to pop nearby like mulberries as birds will scatter seeds, so don't wait to cut & treat 'em.

@Tyler Anthony you know what else works and I have used it is vinegar, baking soda and salt 🧂 make it into a paste and put it on a Chinese elm 🌳 stump and it will die ☠️.
