How to kill sharks in stranded deep: Early game (ep 3)

This is a very quick tutorial on how to kill sharks in stranded deep in the early game. All you need for this is crude spears which can be very easily made. I hope this is a helpful tutorial. Thanks for watching.

My shark story from stranded deep: I restarted my game, was on day 2 and needed rocks, so I took my inflatable raft to the next island over. I haven’t experienced tiger sharks before 7 days in, so I figure I’m safe. About halfway to the island I was hit and knocked out of my raft, and got bit by a tiger shark, my raft flips completely over, and I can’t flip it back in the water. So I panic and climb aboard my overturned raft and watch this shark circle me. I only had 4 spears, so that wasn’t an option. The current/waves weren’t bringing me any closer to shore, and I was losing hydration. I decided “screw it” and jumped in the water and started swimming backwards while dragging my raft to shore. The tiger kept passing by, and at one point swam parallel to me. He never took more than the first bite from me though. That was some of the most anxiety inducing gameplay I’ve ever experienced.

Most terrifying incident of my life: I started from the first island, used raft to get resources from another island. Came back. Woke up once only to find my raft sailing deep into into sea. In panic I swam yo get it but a shark flipped it over. Panicking I swam right back after being attacked once. Running out of resources. Later I had to get some rocks for a knife. None left. No food. Limited on water. So I saved the game... SWAM to another island completely safely. But this island had 2 crabs and a hog..which were petrifying at first so I just ran for my life. Got poisoned by a snake too. Got diahrea. Got sunstroke. Got hungry. Wouldn't have survived without youtube lol

Nice kill. This is how I started as well, terrified of getting in the water. If you're not on permadeth, I recommend learning to fight from under water asap. If you hug the wreck, literally pressing yourself into it, the shark will circle closely but won't strike, giving you easy close range spear throws. Shark will strike when you surface for air, so have a bandage for after the fight so you dont bleed to death. You won't bleed out fast, it drains over time. Just save 1st and after a few practice fights you'll stop wasting time and spears and take back the ocean like a man

I know you don't want to get close, but poking with a spear does the same damage as throwing one and typically doesn't break on the 1st attack

Nice Tutorial buddy.. I've been playing this game for a while now.. I tried once to kill one but they go away.. and You know.. Humans can't hunt Sharks on the ocean waters.. so I never got one.. Just picked this up thanks to your vid I got my first shark made 10 spears used all missed a couple shots crude axe took him out just fine tho swim up right behind him attack near the tail not sure if it’s for everyone but doing that caused him to curl in almost a stunlock

Don’t need a shipwreck, just stay in shallow water where the shark can’t go. I have a few shelters on beaches right next to deep shelves, can literally stand on the beach and chuck spears from safety. Worth it to make a stack of refined spears. 1 hit from a refined = 2 crude spear hits. If you don’t miss, can just grab em all back and move on to the next shark.

This is a great method, how ever there is always a shark spawned when I even go near the water and I’m not even going to try to leave cause the same thing will happen over and over. I used this method and EVERY SINGLE spear went through him.

Also note due to the game code the sharks hit markers is not well next to broken ships so just have your back to the ship and they will not hit you at all.

My character knows how to build and fly planes, fight giant creatures such as sharks, crabs, whales, and even freaking squids. But they're crapping a storm when they sip 2+ of coconut water.

I played this game about one year ago and have started again. It seems like killing sharks is much harder than I remember! The visibility is terrible and they seem to swim faster than I remember. They must have done something in one of the patches to the game?

near my starting island, it just drops off into open ocean and a great white keeps spawning there and attacking me even when im in the coral reef area

Soon as I left for my first island, a hammerhead kept capsizing my raft. So what I did was I realized he couldn't swim past a certain point by the reef so I waded in the water on the edge of the reef and he would swim close enough for me to stab him but not close enough to bite me so after like ~10 stabs from my fishing spear it died :)

Crude spears are better to use cause the spear gun uses to many materials and crude spears are quicker to make. It take the same amount of hits to kill anything with both. Speargun is cool looking

I always try to use stone spears. Only takes 4 of the them to kill a shark and it's less likely to swim away.

Sharks are pretty easy to Kill. How I do it is: Early game you'll need about 11-12 Crude Spears to kill at least tiger sharks. Once you build up your physical and I think hunting skills you'll only need about 9 if I remember correctly. Where to hide is either on top of a shipwreck like in the video or better yet an underwater rock in which your head is almost under water. Basically one you can stand on top of and your character isn't swimming above. This is because sharks wont attack/bite you if you're too close to a surface. Every once in a while they might which can cause them to clip under islands which I have seen but I prefer this strat since you can more visible see them. Lastly if you ever run out of spears I always wait for them to pass by and swim behind them spamming pick up allowing me to take back some of my spears. I do this all the time on harcore permadeath and have never been attacked doing it.

no animal go bad untill you carved them fully! I mean, Tiger sharks gives you 3 x leather and 3 x meat If I'm not mistaken, and they keep "fresh" if you leave one meat portion on them :P

Sharks are f****** scary in this game let alone real life but yeah I went one-on-one with a tiger shark made me bleed but I did kill it, tea bagged it on land because... I was mad at it, went to swim back to my raft to go home and got eaten by a great white... Yeahhh I think it was avenging it's cousin 😂 Luckily I save my game using a shelter before I went one in one with the tiger shark.. 37 days survived so far, loving this game 😁👍

You need to drag it shore using the drag key/button. For PC it is right click, I don't know for console.
