Love this tutorial, can i use this edge to start a hat? When I attempted it (casting on 85) my stitches decreased for some reason:(

Hi! Yes you can use it to start anything really, you just need to bear in mind that you start with a multiple of 8, plus 1, stitches and you finish with a multiple of 3, plus 1, stitches (each 8 sts will decrease down to 3 by the time you've finished the cast on). So yes the number of stitches does decrease by a lot. It'll require a bit of calculating, and maybe a bit of testing, to therefore figure out how many stitches to cast on in the first place to end up with the number of stitches you want for the main body of the hat :)

how do you repeat this pattern when you bind off at the end of your project?
@RokoleeDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Unfortunately you can't make exactly the same pattern when you bind off. The best suggestion I have is this bind off: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5eQhK2QgZachs0 Even though it would look a bit different, OR you can do the cast on again on separate yarn, then bind off so you effectively have a strip of scallops, and just sew these onto the bound off edge of your project. Hope that helps!
