Learn to knit socks using the Magic Loop method of knitting in the round.
In this tutorial we will walk through each step of knitting socks on Magic Loop including: casting on and setting up, knitting a heel flap and gusset, knitting the toe, and how to close up your toe using the Kitchener Stitch.
This tutorial accompanies a written pattern that can be purchased on Ravelry & Etsy. (Links below) In the tutorial I will be knitting a size medium from this pattern. If the amounts needed for Small or Large are different from the medium I will put the info at the bottom of the screen.
Pattern is written for Small(Medium, Large) - Circumference 8-9”(9-10”, 10-11”)
A Note on Sizes: The sizes listed are based on the foot circumference and not the foot length. I recommend choosing a size that will allow for 1-2 inches of negative ease to get the best fit. You will knit the sock to the length that you need in order to fit.
If you would like to purchase the written pattern to follow along it is available for only $2.00, you can do so here:

I'm a crocheter and wanted to start knitting for so long but past attempts failed. I recently mended my grandma's socks and felt I wanna try again. So here I am at 2am, on my second round of my first ever knit project and sock. I feel so close to my grandma. 🧡

This is the best video. I have to say you can’t stress this tip enough about making sure the working yarn in thrown up and over your work when beginning each row. I don’t knit like you. I hold the yarn in my right hand and if that yarn ever gets inside that infinity loop it gets so messed up! Very important tip which I don’t think is stressed enough🤪😂Another important thing with magic loop is the set up or the framework..to realize the needles ALWAYS point to right and the working yarn always in the back, also you always pull the back yarn to knit the front needle. I know you know this but I hope this comment helps someone else like me. 😘

Hi i have knitted socks for some 59 years. I’ve watched your video twice and have decided that i am definitely going to purchase the needles for sock via the magic loop - it looks way easier than 4 needles. Thanks for this video and showing this old-timer the modern easy sock knitting. Sock knitting is my passion 🌻

I purchased the paper pattern. I’ve knitted socks on 4 straight needles but I’m learning to knit on circular needles. This will be my first project. I don’t knit continental so I hope it works the same for my UK style. Been knitting 60+ years so it’s a new challenge 😊 Thank you for your great tutorial xx

Your 9" socks knitting blew me away. I had trouble with my hands and keeping my first row seamlessly the same as the rest of the stitches. You could always tell where I started. But, when I tried the 9" needles, Oh goodness, it made them so much easier to keep all of my stitches on, uniform tension, and so much more fun. Thank you for sharing.

Excellent tutorial for us beginning sock knitters! I've taken multiple Craftsy classes, bought books, and watched many KZbins on knitting socks. There was some concept surrounding the heel that I had real difficulty grasping. (Plus. I'm a newer knitter but I knew I could conquer socks, once I grasped that concept!). However, this was the cleanest, clearest set of instructions I've ever seen regarding knitting socks on Magic Loop! Thank you so very much! Now, I can knit them. Highly recommend to new sock knitters!

I have been a crazy sock lady myself since my Grannie taught me in 1980. [She knit socks for soldiers during the Great War.] I now suffer arthritis and have "trigger finger" in my ring fingers, and find working 4 needles challenging because of the debilitation of fine motor skills. I tried your method last year and got frustrated, but just knit my first sock in record time! Now I would like to learn HOW you knit, because it seems less trouble for the triggering fingers than using my method. I'm going to check your channel to see if I can find that. THANKS for putting the timestamps in!!! That's a great tip for other youtubers.

You have given me the courage to try again! I did a sample with the Easy Peasy pattern using worsted. It’s too bulky and would only be good for slippers, but was a good practice sock. I now have 2 with cuffs and legs (from your Vanilla pattern), just loaded both onto 40” cables, and am going to continue with heel flaps and turning. Thank you for such a clear instructional video!

Never knitted a sock and decided to give everyone homemade socks for Xmas……first one great but struggled with the pickups on either side of heel…silly me ended up with them all on one needle……now on my 4th pair and flying through adding patterns. Thanks for your lovely stepwise instructions and I can go to parts to remind myself of a particular segments.😆😆

Yahhhh I just completed my very first sock on magic loop with heel flop in gossip, but I’ve never done before and they turned out excellent. I have made many other pairs of socks using an afterthought heels, but this magic loot method is awesome, but I did start my sock with the cuff online at circulars, and when it was time to start my heel, I switched over to magic loop where I completed the heel flap and that’s it and the rest of the foot. This was an excellent tutorial. Thank you. 🧦

I’ve always been afraid to knit socks! I’ve done a few on 9” circulars and finally decided to try magic loop (it looked so intimidating and confusing) I followed your tutorial several times and I’m not sure what was so intimidating now!! I did find that if I tug the stitch where the 2 needles meet on the gusset decrease I do not get any holes. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have made 8 pairs of socks and I am loving every minute of it!!
