@@RokoleeDIY I just finished a clutchpurse. I used the bamboo stitch to my desired length of purse, worked a row of knit across for the bottom of the purse, and then started the bamboo stitch on the wrong side of the purse. The wrong side of the bamboo stitch looks like popcorn and is gorgeous. I put a K1 at the beginning and end of each row to make it easier to sew the side seams up. The purse looks gorgeous. Front of purse is bamboo squares and back of purse is a popcorn texture! Thank you for the great tutorial!!!!

What patterns can you make with this stitch? I like the pattern very much and you explained it very well. Thank You!
@RokoleeDIY3 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) I've seen it used mostly for scarves, but also for shawls, slouchy hats, and socks. If you have a Ravelry account, take a look at this page: www.ravelry.com/patterns/search#query=bamboo%20stitch&sort=best&view=captioned_thumbs for a list of patterns.

Hi I think this is a really pretty stitch and I used it to make a dog sweater but the whole thing shifted a little bit to the left every row instead of the columns lining up straight below each other..does that make sense? I'm not sure if it was the stitch itself or it was my tension as I've never had this happen before
@RokoleeDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hmm I haven't noticed it myself, but I haven't knitted a large piece with just this stitch. It is possible it's the stitch because the yo is being moved in just the one direction every time so it could shift the columns a little. Perhaps break up the bamboo stitch with a different stitch every so often, or perhaps blocking could help to even it out?

Bright and Pip, I think I have found the solution to our common problem. When you form your loop, try passing your yarn first under the needle then above and not the contrary as demonstrated in this video. I knitted just 8 rows but it already looks much straight than before. For help, you can watch "knit chunky bamboo cowl" by Phanessa or bamboo stitch by joannesweb... It changes the general look of the stitch but it is the only solution, believe me I tried everything I could, It's valid for circular or straight needles. I don't know exactly why this way of forming the loop suppresses the shifting... I hope this will help you... Update : another solution I have found today, you form your loop as demonstrated, unlike in another videos, but if you add a purl stitch after each border stitch at each end of your knitting on the right side and knitted on the wrong side, it will straighten your knit, I will search a solution for straighten this stitch with circular needles, maybe just one purl stitch before each row would be sufficient ? I hope it's clear enough to understand, sorry for my poor English, this is not my first language.

I'm wondering if you knit this stitch in the round (by just changing the purls in row 2 to knits) instead, that could be better because you're just knitting in a spiral then? Or perhaps try knitting a bit more loosely and blocking into shape :)
@thierrycharnaud84493 жыл бұрын
@@RokoleeDIY Hi Rokolee DIY, thank you for your response. I tried knitting with circular needles or more loosely, unfortunately, you will get the same result, as for the beautiful oriental stitch which has a similar technique on the wrong side but a totally different look to the bamboo stitch (see punto oriental by ComoTejer.com) I have found this solution, to add a purl stitch, which is almost invisible in your knit, after each border stitch at the beginning and the end of your row on the right side. Before that, I did almost give up knitting this stich.. .

Lovely stitch,is this done on an even stitch cast on ?

Yes :)

You will achieve a slightly different result if you YO clockwise instead of counterclockwise. Most common YO is the opposite of what is demonstrated in this video. This video results in a broken horizontal "pullover stitch". YO the opposite way for a non broken horizontal stitch. I see that more often than this version (which I have never seen except when I followed this video)

I wish that there was a written pattern for this, because when I'm out and about I can't have my phone on ( area has too much noise).
@RokoleeDIY3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I do plan on adding all of the patterns to my website but I'm very behind! For this stitch you need to cast on an even number, then: 1) *yo, k2, pass yo over k2 2) P For the first yo, start at the back, wrap the yarn clockwise so it goes to the back again :)
