THANK YOU! This is so much easier to understand. I have made i-cords, so this is a natural extension of that process! I appreciate it.

I like the first method. It makes a nicer looking piece of fabric and the i-cord is more obviously there.

I can only agree. I don't particularily like the second version either..but hey..it's not (always *chuckle*) about my likes :)

Hi Norman! I hope this hasn't been asked before. Can you show a purl I-cord cast on, please, in a video? I've learned the cast-off in purl, but just can't wrap my head around written directions from AI, which seems to be the only directions offered....I really like the textured look of the purled I-cord cast off and would love to have my start on a rectangular shawl match the end. Thanks for considering, and as always, you are my go-to for learning, because of your thorough and calm way of demonstrating, as well as where I direct anyone wanting to learn this or that❤

I like the first method much better, casting on and knitting the i-cord on the larger needle, but thanks for showing many options.

I just re-watched your i-cord bind off video and both of these are so very helpful! I don’t remember you talking about needle size in the bind off video, but do you recommend going up a needle size when doing an i-cord bind off as well? I’m thinking about adding one to the cuff of a color work tee I am making currently.

yah..that icord bind-off video is somewhat old. heh..and would need a proper update. I just wrote it in a different reply. There is a new patreon exclusive episode on icords where I adress mos tof the common issues: www.patreon.com/posts/how-to-knit-i-71691338

Thanks for your easy understanably video, it's helped me a lot. But to avoid that the fabric doesn't flare, would it help to do one "normal" i-cord stitch between every third/four "doublestich" in the same way as you recommended in the first alternative? I will try that for the next projekt I will use to start with a i-cord row :)
@nimbleneedlestwo Жыл бұрын
it could. It pretty much depends a bit on your tension and your project. When in doubt, knit a swatch. that's what I always do!

how do you do the i-cord cast-on for knitting in the round... somehow you have to join the edges? tia
@nimbleneedlestwoАй бұрын
well....in this case, start with a provisional cast-on and then, later on use a kitchener stitch across the 3 stitches to close it.
