How to knit i-cord cast on in the round (circular knitting) without a jog/jogless. Stable, neat and completely jogless cast on edge for knitting top down v-neck, boat neck sweaters/pullovers, top down socks, also for knitting bottom up sweaters, sleeves, as well as cowls, hoods, helmets.
Step by step knitting for beginners. Continental knitting.
Matches well i-cord bind off: • 3-stitch I-CORD BIND-O...

Have a cowl pattern knitted in round. All the instructions said was to CO 165 stitches using an I cord method in the round. So I did, (working with black). When finish I said how am I to join and now what. Have to pick up 165 stitches. Even placing markers it was challenging. Found your video. The best ever🤗🤗 Your method is much easier and will know I have the exact amount of stitches. Thank you👍🏼

If I may recommend - because the height and the width of the stitches are different - for the c/o I-cord you might want to try a smaller needle size than you will use for the main pattern - the stitches of the I-cord are horizontally positioned vs the rest of the fabric. I would swatch first to make sure (it always helps my nerves 😀 - I know what to expect and will enjoy the process a lot more). Have lots of fun with your lace top!

If pattern states to cast on 126 stitches are 2 additional needed so they can used for the joining and then there are still 126?
@irinarevo
@irinarevo Жыл бұрын
Hi Lori, your countable cast on stitches start with the first stitch after the provisional piece - in the video it’s the first stitch of the main colour on the right needle tip. And the last countable 2 stitches would be both loops of the last kfb. The last two stitches of I-cord edge are undone and redone while weaving in the yarn tail for a jogless joining. Here 16:32 min. So, if you need to cast on 126 stitches, count from the first stitch of the main colour on the right needle tip to the last two stitches of the kfb. :)

Hello Irina! What a wonderful work is that! Kindly ask you, where could we use this i-cord cast on for best result and what kind of stitches would be best to follow after? Does it go better with ribbing or plain knit stitches or everything? Also, does it roll up when we use knit stitches for the rest of the work?
@irinarevo
@irinarevo 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nella! Thank you for your feedback! The i-cord edge is firm and stable, and good for anything that needs stability, like the edges of a boatneck, sleeves, blanket, etc. It goes well with the stockinette stitch ( I would try a smaller needle for the i-cord). As for the rolling up, it depends on the yarn - if it rolls up in stockinette then it will still roll up. The rib is better for that.

Quick question from a new knitter. To use the jog/jogless icord method you modelled in your video do we cast on two extra stitches then we need? For example if my pattern calls for 110 stitches do I cast on 112 because we remove two in order to join them?

@marilyn3919
@marilyn3919 2 жыл бұрын
It’s very confusing to call it knit-wise because you are using the right-hand needle and really just “slipping” the stitches to the left. What would you call purl-wise with left hand needle? I found this nomenclature very confusing in your sewn bind-off video, as well.
@SR949900
@SR949900 2 жыл бұрын
How can it be confusing when it is shown in the video? I mean some individuals call things differently. I get instructions for patterns to just slip. Some might do this knitwise or purlwise. However, she has a video to show you what she is doing. Irina you are doing great, thank you for these videos!
@irinarevo
@irinarevo 2 жыл бұрын
@@marilyn3919 During the slipping off - the left-hand needle enters the stitches from left to right - knit-wise. The slipped stitches are thus positioned on the left needle in a knit position (same as they were on the right needle before slipping off), where the left leg of a stitch is behind the needle and the right leg is in front of the needle. I hope this helps.
