Just pulled favorite items to pack for a vacation in California: my color pallet is mostly white, black, light blue, and pale aqua. I have one printed BoHo peasant style blouse with all these colors (with a touch of pink) and one navy/white tie dye striped cotton dress with long sleeves from Old Navy. Almost everything is thrifted; even the leather blue loafers and blue woven cloth handbag from LeSac. My cross body paisley zippered bag has all the colors I live and is the one pop of color for each neutral outfit. All of this careful planning has been because I've watched your previous videos and have learned a lot about what I really love to wear. Thank you for helping me feel cute at 69 years old.

I used to wear SO much black, but as I get older, it feels harsh and unflattering- navy is my new black. Patterns feel unauthentic for me now. I used to wear Lilly but now it feels very infantile on me, so it's all gone. Actually, anything at all fussy really bugs me- like a wide neckline that slips around or gapes open, pocket flaps, pleats/gathers, roll tab sleeves- for some reason I have started to reject any garment details and am veering very 90's minimal these days. Another great video, thanks- you always provide so much food for thought!

Hi Kristen- I had my ‘colours done’ about 30 years ago when it was very popular here in the UK, I was a soft autumn- and I identified with that, I had always felt, for instance that cream suited me but bright white really didn’t and seeing the difference with the swatches next to my face really convinced me! Now, in my 60s I have lightened up- creams taupes tans with denim are still my neutrals but I do love coral and muted yellowy lime green, seeing you video has encouraged me to go and have a good look at what has crept into my wardrobe that is maybe not so flattering 😊

p.s. I love black more than ever because I now have white/silver hair and the contrast looks really good. I have lots of stripes too!! My favorite color is turquoise but I save that for jewelry.

Another fabulous thought-provoking video, thank you so much Kristen. Was diagnosed a light spring about 35 years ago, and still a light spring today at 72, because a bright colourful wardrobe is my happy place. Chocolate, French navy, camel and denim are my base colours (for pants or skirts), they showcase and complement the colours I wear next to my face, like lime, aqua, daffodil. If I want a "white" then ecru is my friend which can be layered with a statement bag or scarf to elevate the outfit. I also love experimenting with colour and pattern combinations, because dressing up has always been one of my favourite hobbies. The results aren't always perfect, because the wee rebel in me just loves to push the boundaries sometimes. 😉

I love colour but I have a lot of black in my wardrobe. I feel I look better in navy but I am still drawn to black. I think you hit it on the head for me when you said what colours do you gravitate towards. Growing up I had mousie brown hair and always wore yellows/browns/greens. Now my hair is white I love the contrast of black with a pop of colour.

I had my colors done and am a Winter. Bright vibrant colors, especially jewel tones and a true red look great. The only real neutrals in my palate are black and pure white. This whole neutrals trend has been a struggle even though I LOVE it on others! Sadly, grey and creams make me look like a corpse. I do adore color, but find making a cohesive wardrobe out of my best colors can be challenging!

Hello, Heather- Thanks for your comment. I'm sure the extended neutral trend isn't super easy for you. If you really want to experiment with neutrals... I'd suggest going into a store and trying on every version of neutral. My bet is that there's a shade of grey or off white, blush or tan that you would make you feel great. If neutrals don't interest you... stick with the bright, jewel tones that you know work. You could even wear a complete monochrome look in your favorite vibrant color... all royal blue, all red, all fuchsia. Have fun with what works for you! 💖

I love dresses. I had over 2 dozen beautiful, colorful dresses that were outfits unto themselves. This year I've been working on a color pallette and a wardrobe that works for my retired lifestyle. I didn't need 2 dozen different dresses to wear to church. I'm mostly separates now, but I'm not a big jeans person so finding other bottoms is challenging. My palette is evolving but it is primarily camel/khaki, French blue and navy with a little bit of black and green. My two exceptions are a red structured handbag and a bright yellow flowered sleeveless top I've worn all summer. 🤗🌿💙

Over time I've figured out that I am closest to a Soft Autumn but I really am very neutral. There are some other soft tones that I really enjoy from other seasons that I seem to be able to wear. I recently heard someone talk about a "muted palette" vs the seasonal color palettes. It was interesting to me as it really made sense. I feel like I can wear a lot of different colors as long as they're muted but having said that I still am mainly into neutrals. Denim for sure. I share your love of cream sweaters lol! Camel is probably my signature color. I enjoy soft gray green and am incorporating some soft warm rose tones this fall. I do wear black but I try to keep it on my lower half. Black and camel is one of my favorite go-to's. Thanks again for the great content and for the reminder to trust our instincts. 😊🙏

Hi Kathy- Thanks for your comment. I love camel... on other women. It mostly washes me out so I really don't wear it. I keep trying to find a camel blazer or cashmere sweater because I'm sure I'll find a version that works for me... maybe as my hair gets more gray? 🥰

I wore black most of my life as I felt it was slimming. Now that I’m slim I realize I was mostly using it to hide. I do love the black in my skin and I feel it’s glamourous, smart, and simply wonderful for night or for sport. At present I am experimenting with every color under the sun ( mostly thrifted ) and love it. I’m sensing that after I’ve experimented I will settle on some favorites. I do have many basics of white, beige, chocolate, and a little basic black and I love the freshness of light neutrals. I feel I’m slowly finding my favorite colors. Like testing all the ice cream to find which is best😁😁 the only downside at the moment is having so much in my wardrobe. I don’t feel I can DECLUTTER too much until I’ve tested it all out which seems to take time. But I’m looking forward to eventually having that refined wardrobe that really works. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Just looked into my closet after this video. Lots of light blue and denim blue colors (not navy), along with white/ivory, grey, black, and a few olive greens. I have a gorgeous brown skirt I never wear. I think now it might be the color!

Hi Laura- It's so interesting how the color of a piece can prevent us from wearing it and sometimes we don't even realize that's the issue. I'd say give the skirt a try, wearing it with colors that do feel authentic and in your palette... if you don't love it after wearing it that way... maybe it's time to let it go. 🤎

Thank you for this helpful video. Asking myself the right questions and not being bothered by what other people think, I do know which colors I gravitate to. As a muted cool color type, I LOVE my navy, grey, off-white and taupe as foundation colors. Added with beautiful sea- and mintgreens, light blues, mauves and lavenders. My problem is not having enough core pieces in the basecolors. Especially grey is something I need to add. Thank you once again and keep these videos coming ❤ Love from Holland!

I can’t wear solid colours next to my face. I wear brightly coloured warm tone Bretton stripes, or cream or warm white tops. I had no idea of colours that suited me for years yet my daughter knew her colours by 3 and refused to wear anything outside her colour palette. All went together. All suited her. Innate? 🤷‍♀️ I love turquoise but solid block I look dead. I always need that white/ cream stripe plus a neutral bottom.

I appreciate this well-rounded and practical approach. I think many women really latch onto color theory because it’s easier for them than learning about & mastering fit, proportions, versatility, etc. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that even the right colors can ‘fall flat’ without addressing those fundamentals. My color palette is very defined - black, white, gray, and denim with pops of color sometimes in my accessories. It feels authentic for me, but it drives my color-loving friends crazy. 😂

Hi, I recently started to watch your videos and I need to say, I love them. I am from Germany, but lived for 7 years in the US. I like jeans, beiges, pastell pinks and since 2 years greenery, but not in the meaning of needle tree green, more sage to taupe. Got a big capsule collection in those colours. I also like navy and black with cognac. For reference, I am 1.68m, 70 kg and 58 years with dark blonde hair and brown/greenish eyes. Colours I hate are red, this is a deases not a colour, needle tree green, yellow, orange and lila. I can spent hours to find colour matching shoes and so on. For me everything needs to perfectly match. Really like your channel. Petra

Great video! I also follow Shopping on Champagne and love her style as well as yours even though you’re very different. I love fresh colors, living in Florida. I have been kind of lost but slowly honing in on what I really like. I love neutrals and pastels. I thought I liked dresses, following Jennifer L. Scott too but that’s not me either. Then I went all linen like another KZbinr, Connie Reit, but I felt it made me look a little messy. I also tried Anne Marie Lecoeur, but in Florida, it seems to be too much. Lastly, I also follow Angela Masson and she has a lot of cute things that she wears and I’d say that’s as close to my real style as I’ve seen so far. I wish I could wear more sweaters like you, but it’s too hot here for them except for at work. I have pared down my wardrobe to a cohesive color palette but I see that the color is missing. I really hate shopping though and don’t do well buying online so I guess I will wait until I am really in the mood to look for something and just make do with what I have now.

Thank you! I've noticed that if you have been analyzed as a season (I'm Autumn) not every color in that season will be great on you. I've been told by another analyst that I can do black near my face. Not! I'm tired of changing my makeup and hair trying to make it work. So. Colors that look awful on me or colors that just look meh are out!

I am an autumn (self-analysis through videos and info from the internet and books I've read) and pretty much stick to that palette. Those are colors I'm naturally drawn to for the most part anyway. My goal is to narrow down my color palette to fewer colors because it's still tricky to pair outfits when my closet looks like a forest of fall leaves 😂. And denim of course. Especially because I'm really specific about what colors go together. (I won't wear certain colors with certain washes of denim, like mustard has to be worn with a specific denim and never paired with black. Olive has to be worn with a lighter wash or black, not a dark denim. Etc, etc. And I won't pair olive with burgundy or burnt orange with olive or mustard.

It's so interesting how we all have color combos that we simply won't wear... and others that we really love! My mom knit me a poncho as a child. It was olive green and navy. I loved it! To this day, I'm drawn to those two colors together!!

I tried doing color analysis on myself and I came up with dark autumn. I was disappointed at the thought of just wearing those colors because I'm not naturally drawn to them. So I decided my analysis must be faulty! 🤣🤣 I actually prefer the colors of dark winter better so maybe that's what I am.🌿💙
