I feel you are quite correct with this type of full Oxford or a Full brogue but with an open Oxford or Open Brogue dress shoe it is different. When I worked for Austin Reed many years ago in the Churches and Cheney shoe department we were told by Churches that the open shoes should have crossed laces. That was many years ago, perhaps times have changed. Of course one would not wear open eyelet tab styles with business suites anyway so I suppose the point I make is moot!

The dress shoe lace is the same, minus the missing pair of holes.

@Potkansky i think you mean invented shoes. but Europeans didn't invent shoes. the first shoemakers were Egyptians.
