I go for those that are open to the Public. Also, the profile is extremely important. Make sure to put all your past employment for this builds your resume builder. Do not upload your resume. Rather use their resume builder snd make sure you have quantifiers in your resumer. Upload your supporting documents including those courses you may have took with FEMA Independent Student Studies.

Be sure to research how to *properly* write a FEDERAL resume. This will be much different from a regular civilian reaume. Please don’t mess this up or your resume will probably be ignored.

Fed here….you are so right! I can’t stress enough how painful it is to see resumes that do not tells us what we need to know. We can’t assume you can do the job. Your resume speaks for you. Make sure it does not just list your duties. Quantify your accomplishments. There’s a link to the job announcement’s questionnaire (how to apply or qualifications section, click on it and make sure your resume can address those questions. Section each work experience off by competencies. The competencies are in the “specialized experience section and qualifications. You can pick up clues in the duties section as well. If you see communication, project management, program management, etc., list your accomplishments for all that apply for that competency. Make it easy for the resume panel to score your resume. Getting referred by HR is only part of the battle. You want an interview. A stellar resume is the only way. Don’t get lazy. I know ppl who have applied to hundreds of jobs and rarely get an interview. If this is you, fix your resume!

Hmmm in my experience jobs that aren’t open that long means HR already has somebody they hired for that position but by law they have to post it. Also you have to look at the circles on the right, thats the pool of applicants they will pull from first.

If you do work for a federal job for five years yourself you do get pension you don’t know pension is a salary after you retire you have to be retiring age though

You don’t get a pension after 5 years, lol. In most cases, it’s after 20/25 years of work.

I was chosen for a tentative offer at the VA hospital job fair. I did my 306 form, medical and fingerprint on 12/4/23. Just waiting for the next step . I haven’t received no email yet

@@Rough_Coins actually the guy hasn't even looked at the 306 forms. How Do I know? I showed up asking him - what's the update . He showed the pile in his desk drawer . He told me to fill out the form again, he was too lazy to look through the huge file he has to complete again!!

If you have no GS experience, you must have masters or doctorate to be considered and if using bachelors you have to provide proof that you were top of your class. I’m a military spouse and have yet to land a job. I’ve been trying for a little of a year. I’m ready to give up.

Don't give up. If took me 4 months after applying before even being contacted. And I had 3 days to relpy. They are slow to reply., but you gotta be quick when they reach out and request documents, references, etc..

I have MCSA, MCP, MS, SEC+ and 20 years in ARMY IT. I still have not been able to get a Govt position thus far, and I don't know what i'm doing wrong. >.< I'm tired of being a US Contractor...i want a Govt position!!!

@@1KhaliDP I dunno man, after all the places I've been, people I've met while deployed, skills I've picked up without going to college, I still don't know if it was worth it. I can do almost anything anyone could ask....but no one will ask or consider asking me because I don't have a "Bachelors Degree" stamped on my forehead. It's a damn shame that you can know the exact solution to someones dilemma, but they don't even want to hear you because you don't have a piece of paper that allows you to be seen as a full-fledged human. Sometimes I think I should have just stayed home living in my moms basement and done the 4 years in college like the standard moron and then transitioned into a standard drone life with a government job, daily mocha-latte enema, wife and kid and no threat to the establishment. I guess you only get to have benefits if you play the game... It's that, or work with no recognition until you die.

IT was literally the worst example you could use. You need money to get a degree and be trained on IT then why would you work for the government instead of corporations who would pay MUCH more? Just proved usajobs is a hard job to get on.

The 1550 series is for Computer Science and most definitely requires a college degree. The 2210 series, which is for IT Specialists, IT Project Managers, and IT Program Managers, have positions that do not require degrees, but there are cases where agencies require them. This woman makes it seem as if you can get a federal job quickly and that's not the case, especially these days when the economy is shaky and people are getting laid off.
