In this video, I share with you the initial step and decision I had to make after I left working in the hospital to be able to experience something different.
Because I made the choice to take a pay-cut for a period of time, I had to be patient in my nursing journey to be a part of change management and hear conversations from other co-workers in healthcare to learn about the business of healthcare in general.
The more I learned about health insurance, transitions of care, and data management, I could then better understand where I'd like to position myself within the health care arena. Not just leave bedside - just because....

How long was your master program? I’m interested in learning more. I’m Respiratory therapist wanting to get out of bedside.

My masters program was a 2yr program. It had lots of varying courses like Data Analysis, Program Database Management, Healthcare Law and Policy, Quality Improvement. The thing is, it was very broad overview of the different disciplines and not something that gave you a certification or honed in greatly on fine-tuning a specific skill set. So it gave me more of an idea of what I found interesting and what area I’d like to target - to then further choose what skill sets to hone in on. I hope that makes sense

Paycut??? I kinda figured that...its easier picking berries from a thorn bush...than finding an RNI Practicum site 😕

🤣 True story; This is the DIY method. I say pay cut, add skills. Then re-work for the next gig to demand more because now you will bring clinical and technical/versatile insight to the next position
