HOW-TO: LATE SUMMER FERTILIZER LESCO | $1100 in 6 hours!

Hey there Ninja's. Todays video is about properly fertilizing a lawn. Using a #Lesco brand 50lb spreader, this can be done in the late #summer, early fall or spring seasons. If you need any help determining the kind of fertilizer you should be putting down, your best bet is to ask your supplier. My supplier is SiteOne and they carry Lesco fertilizers.
This service that you can offer to your clients is great for them and great for you! These cooler temps we will be getting in September is a prime time for the lawn to gain extra nutrients that it may not have gotten during the hot summer months. This can keep your clients lawn looking green and healthy, which they will love and it will also be a great money maker for you... If you price it right!
My material costs were $224, which got me 8x50lb bags. I only ended up using 6.5, but I may even be able to use this same fertilizer from SiteOne in the fall. I had 23 lawns to fertilize, the biggest one being 6500 sq. ft. That lawn I charged $130 to fertilize.

What do you charge for fertilizations? The lawn in the video is about 6500 sq ft, so I take 6.5x$20 = $130. Sometimes I will bump the price down to $15 per 1000 sq ft if it is a bigger lawn. Overall, I have had great success with putting this late summer application down. Keeps the lawn green and growing for just a few more weeks allowing me to continue to mow. Nice man!! Do you follow bag rate? Or do you go for a certain amount of lbs of nitrogen per 1k sqft?

I try and follow the bag suggestion as best I can. I also ask my local fertilizer distributor for best usage rates. Putting down more than required can cost you tons of money and hurt the lawn. Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing!

Where can I get the fertilizer seeds?

The stuff I used you can only get as a contractor at various suppliers all throughout the US. This one I got from SiteOne. I also get some from CPS Distributors. If you are a homeowner, your local home improvement store will have the kind you need. Thanks for watching and commenting!

What is your rate for fertilize?

Last year I was $20 per 1,000 sq ft with a $30 minimum. This year I am going to shoot for $25 per 1,000 sq ft with a minimum of $40. I hope that helps! What are your rates?

So what would you get for say 43000 square feet? I just started I have a SiteOne plan as well

Depending on product, you could be using 7-10 bags for that big of a property. Let's say a bag costs $50 and does 6,000 sq ft, you'll be spending $400+ on fertilizer alone. My pricing for 2023 is $35/1,000 sq ft, so my price would be around $1500 though I may offer a discount since I will be there for a long time and not have to worry about driving to another property. I have a current customer that has a 20,000 sq ft property ($700 for fertilizer) and I discount it to $600 and offer 4-6 week fertilizer applications at a discounted rate of $500. Don't copy my pricing but figure out what your costs are, how much you want to make per hour, how long it will take and work it backwards. Thanks for watching, subbing and commenting!
