➤Dyson Sphere Program Info:
Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure, exploration and factory automation elements where you can build your own galactic industrial empire from scratch.
In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed - a machine whose superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.
You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing Dyson Spheres (a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its power and energy) to produce the energy that humanity needs. Only a few decades ago, Dyson Spheres were considered a hypothetical, impossible invention - but now it’s in your hands… Will you be able to turn a backwater space workshop into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire?
Neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants, gaseous and rocky planets… There is a big and varied universe out there, waiting for you to gather all its resources.
Every playthrough will be unique: your universe will be procedurally generated every time you start a new game. There will be different types and distribution of stars, planets and resources. Will you manage to thrive and build your Spheres, no matter what the universe throws at you?
As a space engineer, you are expected to design your interstellar factory and production lines, not to micromanage every small package going back and forth. You have to transport materials from one planet to another, forming interstellar transport teams that gather resources and bring them to where they are needed.
Then, your resources can be transported between facilities through conveyor belts, and you’ve got the technology to help your buildings fit the grid automatically during the construction process. You’ve got the best tools COSMO can afford to build a massive-scale automated production line - the most efficient one ever seen in the universe!
- Build a galactic industrial empire from scratch: start with a small workshop and improve it until it spans the whole galaxy
- Develop your very own Dyson Spheres, a megastructure that orbits around a star harnessing all its power and energy, from the first screw to its completion
Explore a vast universe procedurally generated with all kinds of celestial bodies: neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants…
- Gather resources in planets of all types: ocean, lava, desert, frozen, gaseous planets…
Research new technologies to improve your factories… and discover the secrets of the universe
Build mechasto fly, sail or jump through outer space and alien planets
- Transport materials across the galaxy to your facilities: thousands of transport ships will flow endlessly to your factories and back!
- Design the most efficient automated factory and production line
Customize your factory and Dyson Sphere to make it unique
- Design a balanced power network capable of producing energy in all kinds of power plants like wind turbines, artificial stars, etc.

I'd recommend you get the dyson shell and the max sail research before you craft thousands of sails for the swarm, that way they stay up there permanently (or an hour with the swarm), and the shell produces a lot more power. It might be cool, but waiting until you have more research and crafting all sorted is well worth the wait.

@@Shatterverse If you've done something so wrong you need a dyson swarm to generate the power to fix it, you should scrap whatever you've just done cause you're probably fired. Making a Dyson Swarm just looks really cool, that's the only actual reason to make it. It's really a lot smarter to save the resources for the actual dyson sphere. I made a pretty efficient dyson swarm (IE the ejectors shoot most of the time) and it just sucked my planet's resources dry while the power was really just being wasted. It looked PHENOMENAL but i'm paying for it now.

I've not read all the comments so I assume this has been said already but just in case. To get the power back from the Solar swarm you need a Ray Receiver. These can be set to make power or Photons which are used for end game stuff :) Good Work. In the End you will have ILS and PLS all over the place on multiple planets in multiple systems sending stuff wherever you need it! lol So very complex but immensely satisfying. When I launched my rockets for the first Part of my Dyson Sphere I had a huge smile on my face. It was Awesome! :)

in my original planet, I created a conveyor belt loop across the equator to continuously feed solar sails to shooters in 4 different clusters at 90 degree angles, so at least one cluster is always shooting. (of course I could have done it with logistic stations, but I was having fun) Solar sails have a limited lifetime! Their orbit decays and they fall into the sun eventually. When you build the Dyson shell, it summons the solar sails to create surfaces . the solar sails don`t decay when attached to a dyson shell. There is a Ray Receiver thingie that can fetch back the energy.

Hey Biffa - firstly, thanks so much for the great series. You've 100% got me hooked on this game and I'm loving it. I've just started getting into the dyson swarm stuff myself so have literally been pondering the same questions for a few days :) Couple of things for you since you asked For your idea for a locked planet, you're looking for orange text below a planet name when you click on one in the system/planet view. There are a bunch of characteristics planets have - tidally locked is one of them. There's also orbital resonance (which I think is the next best thing - it has really long days/nights), as well as horizontal and reverse rotation I think it's random as to whether you'll have one available in your starting system - my closest planet like that turned out to be a few light years away. From what I could see, you can only check planet details when you are in a system so I think you basically have to go exploring and stumble across one ( I was pretty lucky as I found one when I went looking for some rare resources). Ooooh, and the most important thing You've almost certainly done this already but, in case you haven't, you 100% need to go and visit your dyson swarm. The same way you can watch them fire in the starmap you can actually go see them in space! Glad you're having such a great time

Biffa, this Bus is amazing! I am loving this. I have a suggestion, you have treated your inputs from the home planet differently then you treated the inputs locally. Instead of adding them to the Bus so they can be pulled from as needed, you have run them straight to the first assemblers that need that item. If I were you I'd go back to the start and attach them up basically like you do from the assembler side; straight off the interplanetary supply to the Bus then to the assemblers that need the item just like the rest of the items. I think it will save you a headache down the road. You're awesome Biffa, thanks for the videos!

After I started building my 1st Dyson Sphere and had already inserted several hundreds of solar sails into Dyson Swarm orbits, I noticed that several of the growing nodes of my aspirant Dyson Sphere sort of attracted the solar sails from the Dyson Swarm orbits. I concluded that the Dyson Swarm swarm was 'eaten' by the Dyson Sphere. *

@@Apollorion Yes. The Sphere is made up of 3 parts, Nodes, Frames that connect nodes, and Sails that fill the empty space. Nodes and frames require rockets to build, and once an enclosed shape is made, you can then tell the sphere to fill that space with Sails which become permanent. There is a limit though, only 120 or so Sails can be requested per node at once, at a rate of about 1 every 3 seconds. You can see these numbers by clicking on the nodes in the dyson sphere menu, the first set of x/y/z is for Rockets recieved/inbound/max, and the second set is for solar sails.

I made a swarm orbit at 90° to the orbit of the planets and quite large radius. That makes it bit enough to always be visible from the poles of most of my planets. I then stick a receiver (same menu section as the gun) near the poles and they usually get power around the clock. Really hand on new planets inside the same system as you can drop one receiver and get huge power right away without lots of ground based solar panel setup.

You extract energy from the Dyson systems with ray recievers. They are probably the most complicated building in the game right now. They generate up to 5 MW of power, but it costs you up to triple that from the Dyson swarm/sphere to actually extract that energy based on the Ray recieving efficency, which at base at its lowest is 30%, meaning you need to generate 16MW of power in the swarm to extract 5 from one Ray Reciever. There is upgrade research to make it even better. They also need line of sight to work like solar panels, but they also very slowly get better as they are run. At max capacity they vastly boost the Ray receiving efficiency to well over 50% and can generate 12.5 MW of power, but if they loose line of sight that rapidly degrades. Placing them at the poles is therefor a very good idea. There is a research that allows them to consume 1 Graviton Lens every 4 minutes to double the power ouput and also raises the line of sight from the top of the building to a point high in the sky above the building, making it much easier to keep them running at all times for that peak efficency bonus.\ Lastly, Photon generation mode makes them consume 5x the power to produce Energized Photons, which are needed for the final tier research cube and also Antimatter Power.

For efficiency's sake EM-Rail launchers should either go near poles so they've almost always got a view of the sun, or if that's not possible be aimed at high inclination orbits (ones that go well above/below the ecliptic (plane the planets are roughly on) of the system) so that they've got wider launch windows.

If you still play this Biffa .... You can stack the splitters and belts so the upper belt has mixed the goods. You can adjust the bottom splitter so that the any output bet will only send out the item you want and let the rest of the goods continue on on a belt ()s above so that you have all the goods all the way round as well as have a stack of belts going the other direction. That stops you from having to go wider and wider

Also, when you get red science cubes, siphon off the oxygen and run it through a fractionater loop, so you can start accumulating deuterium. Once you get to late game, you'll have a nice reserve of deuterium for the deuteron fuel rods. Which are incredible for fuel and also for the mech. 17:30 press s to slow down. Don't go overboard on launching solar sails until you start building your dyson sphere. The sails only last a limited amount of time, I think half an hour with no upgrades, and if you launch them constantly you'll use up your resources really fast. When building your dyson sphere (after getting to the stress system upgrade) you can connect nodes in whatever shapes you want, like a square and the solar sails will then go in and fill that square to generate loads of power. When they're in the Sphere itself they become permanent. Also yes, you can write letters with the dyson sphere nodes and have words orbiting your star and generating power.

You want the Ray Receiver to collect the energy from the Dyson Swarm/ Sphere. But those are also what you use to collect Critical photons which you use to get Antimatter to make white cubes and more fuel. You select the receiver and pick if you want it to collect energy or critical photons. Put them near the poles of your planet. Oh! And when you start building the Dyson sphere itself, keep going with the sails, as they get sucked into the sphere to help build it's panels. Not that I've fallen down the rabbit hole that is DSP at all...

Or, an idea I had for when I play this, is to have a planet with a ring of railguns along the equator and a belt that runs beside 'em that also runs around the equator that's always going round-&-round the planet and feeding them sails as it's their turn to fire.

I've been running ~3 guns per orbit to maintain the swarms (the sails have a finite lifespan, increased by research). No idea if that's optimal but it's working. Ray receivers work best at the poles (especially if you don't have much axial tilt) as they work most efficiently if they can receive continuously.

I would advise you to put your EM-rail ejectors to be at both poles of your innermost planet (the Lava one). Then the Gas giant isn't in the way and by utilizing the poles of the planet, you always have some EM-rail ejectors shooting solar sails. (Try to place about 20+ in a circle at each pole) It also seems to be time for you to start researching more things to build and upgrades to your mech.

two options for improving the rail ejactors: 1. Make an orbit that's not on the same plane as the planets orbit. Then they can fire constantly (probably). 2. Set up 4 planetary stations tha t go all around the equator ot the planet (1 for every 90 degrees around) each receiving the solar sails and each having their own railguns. For further imprvement, eachc such station could ahve one railgun for each of the 2 orbits (1 being on the planetary orbit plane and 1 being tilted 90 degrees as described in my 1st suggestion)

You should put these on Matar I so that there are no eclipses to slow it down, and someone else suggested an equatorial ring which an unused planet would be perfect for

So about a "locked" we wonld not know as we do not play in the same game seed as you do :) but what i did was looked at my planets in map view and then spand quite some time looking on what part of my planets was most in the sun, but looking at your angle and rotation would be a good start :)

A Tidally locked planet should have such a description in its statistics panel (where you find all the planetary resources). That being said, if the axial tilt is small,. under like 10 to 15 degrees, the poles will have sunlight at all times and a circle of solar panels even in winter will still be producing mostly steady power

Instead of a huge row of splitters for the Rail guns you could just use 3 conveyors side by side

...be careful with solar sails, once you launch them they have a finite life in the swarm... I built an array of ray receivers before launching any sails... that said, I now wish I hadn’t sent any sails up until I’d started building the sphere frame, because the sails can be used to fill in between the frame sections... I don’t think they degrade once they’re used for that.

You could use the upgrade (U) tool, it's very handy! Works with Shift aswell. And about the sails. It's not really worth doing it before a dyson shell bc they die off after a while, but not in the shell. And you should use the poles for the receivers! I recommend you checking this site: dsp-wiki.com/

At 6:30, why don't you use the second "tier" electric towers, they have far superior range! Also, you really don't need to automate the EM rail ejetors. You need like 20-30 of them for the entire game.

You might want to look at the CopyInserters mod. That way the attached sorters and their settings will be copied when you copy a factory / smelter

You might want to put your cannos on either pole so that they fire/lauch 24/7, instead of just in day time That or find a tidally locked planet

They might not find the right angle at pole. Lot of people suggest equator
@marrs3312
@marrs3312 3 жыл бұрын
In winter the pole can't see the sun at all. You could but some at south pole and some at north pole. Or just put they around the equator for sun most of the day all year round. That's why it's cold at the poles!

@@marrs3312 Fair, htough that depends on the tilt And I dunno if the game models seasons
@marrs3312
@marrs3312 3 жыл бұрын
@@marceloantunes998Not 100% sure but the planets definitely have tilt. So if the tilt stays the same as it goes around the sun you'll get summer and winter in each hemisphere. Unless you can find one with no tilt or tidal locked?

Why not just set up local hubs around the planet that all request solar sails and will effectively give you round the clock launches.
