DYSON SPHERE PROGRAM
Build the most efficient intergalactic factory in space simulation strategy
game Dyson Sphere Program! Harness the power of stars, collect resources, plan and design production lines and develop your interstellar factory from a small space workshop to a galaxy-wide industrial empire
Combining Factorio and Satisfactory on a Galactic scale!
ABOUT THE GAME
Dyson Sphere Program is a sci-fi simulation game with space, adventure,
exploration and factory automation elements where you have to build your
own galactic industrial empire from scratch
In the distant future, the power of science and technology has ushered a new age to the human race. Space and time have become irrelevant thanks
to virtual reality. A new kind of supercomputer has been developed - a machine which superior artificial intelligence and computing capability will
push humanity even further. There is only one problem: there isn’t enough
energy in the whole planet to feed this machine.
You are a space engineer in charge of a project launched by the space alliance COSMO, tasked with a massive undertaking: constructing a Dyson
Sphere, a megastructure that would orbit around a star, harnessing all its
power and energy. Only a few decades ago it was considered a hypothetical, impossible invention - but now it’s in your hands… if you can manage to develop this space workshop in some galactic backwater into a galaxy-wide industrial production empire!
ABOUT EARLY ACCESS
While the core mechanics of Dyson Sphere Program are ready, the game still can grow and evolve a lot - and Early Access is just the perfect place for it to reach its true potential. We believe that by letting players experience the main content of Dyson Sphere Program and actively interacting with them to collect their feedback will allow us to improve the game and make it much better than it would be without this Early Access stage. Our plans are for this EA stage to be about 1 year long. But that is not written in stone
KEY FEATURES
◇ Build a galactic industrial empire from scratch: start with a small workshop and improve it until it spans the whole galaxy
◇ Develop your very own Dyson Sphere, a megastructure that orbits
around a star harnessing all its power and energy, from the first screw
to its completion
◇ Explore a vast universe procedurally generated with all kinds of celestial bodies: neutron stars, white dwarfs, red giants…
◇ Gather resources in planets of all types: ocean, lava, desert, frozen,
gaseous planets…
◇ Research new technologies to improve your factories… and discover
the secrets of the universe
◇ Build mechas to fly, sail or jump through outer space and alien planets
◇ Transport materials across the galaxy to your facilities: thousands of
transport ships will flow endlessly to your factories and back!
◇ Design the most efficient automated factory and production line
◇ Customize your factory and Dyson Sphere to make it unique
◇ Design a balanced power network, producing energy in all kinds of
power plants like wind turbines, artificial stars… through conveyor
belts, and you’ve got technology to help your buildings fit the grid automatically during the construction process. You’ve got the best tools
COSMO can afford to build a massive-scale automated production line

In an educational video about them, Kurzgesagt made a joke about how you practically need a Dyson Sphere to build a Dyson Sphere. The antimatter power storage (for lack of a better wording) here definitely qualifies as being part of that, considering the interstellar effort to build just one in this game. It also goes to show how difficult to make and crazy powerful antimatter is.

Hopefully there will be expansions / DLC. I'd love to see something to reuse a mined-out world. Perhaps like Ian Bank's orbitals: turn a dead planet into a ring by deconstructing it to make a new 'resource' node. Same for converting a planet into a Global Cassius or O'neill cylinders. You don't have to go as far as Orion's Arm and convert black holes into factories and neutron stars into supercomputers. But star lifting like Sharkov Thrusters and Matrosikia brain star clusters are well studied in the futurology literature deriving from Freemon Dyson's little paper about light.

Hello, Love the content ! I think you should check this mod : AdvancedBuildDestruct. It allow you to drag to build an array and it also allow to specify certain spacing with + and - key (not numpad). It is also working alongside CopyInserter. You can drag assemblers with inserters that way you only need to build the belts. I think you'll love it at least for laying your solar grid and more if you want to be a bit less carefull. I hope it can serve others too ;)

I don't want to play modded generally, because I spend a disproportionate amount of time explaining why my game is different from the default experience. This is Early Access so I'd rather have the devs make changes than change the game myself. The CopyInserter is an exception because I would not be able to play the game without it due to RSI

I understand that, I wouldn't have suggested a mod that change the game at this stage. AdvancedBuildDestruct is similar to CopyInserter and based on the same library (BepInEx). I don't want to mess with mods at this stage of the game but clicking 2000 times to place solar is not fun for me and it seems to me that it is not fun for you either. I'm sure the functions of theese 2 mods will be included into the game at some point.

I'm looking forward to seeing the next video with artificial suns implementation! They only produce 30MW more than the energy exchangers so they aren't a huge step up power wise. However they will free up deuterium to be used for other needs (like rockets). I've been building mega smelting arrays too as I can then just ship in ores from any system and if a vein runs out it's no big deal. To help with throughout you can put another ISL station with remote demand and local supply nearby as it will double the collection rate and the local drones can quickly ship it over.

Since the Graviton Lenses increase power consumption as well as photon output, I'd think it would make more sense to not use them until you ran out of space to place the Ray Receivers, right? One Receiver with Lenses has the same output as 2 without, and uses the same amount of power, but consumes the extra resources of Graviton Lenses.

Try to color code the Polar stations with belts of science cubes. e.g. find which prime meridian would be for example east (Or choose at random, it has little meaning gameplaywise which is which) and add a *red science belt in front of the interplanetary tower, and west would be blue for example. You'll never get lost what is where if you're consistent with it.
@jeffreyblack666

Technically not all your starting points are on the N pole. The game incorrectly labels planets as reverse rotation rather than labelling the axial tilt as greater than 90 degrees. The north pole follows the right hand rule. If you make a "thumbs up" with your right hand, your thumb points north and your fingers wrap around in the direction of rotation of the planet. This means that unless the rotation period is less than an orbit, the sun will rise somewhere to the east and set somewhere to the west. This provides an objective way to determine the N pole on any planet, regardless of its axial tilt and regardless of the presence of nearby stars or other celestial objects. It also allows a solution to the hypothetical case of a 90 degree axial tilt. So the N pole on that reverse rotation planet is actually the south pole. An example of this in real life is Venus with an axial tilt of ~177 degrees.

already tested smelting arrays thoroughly. At capacity, max output belts = three, after that you can't get enough ore into the station fast enough and it just runs out in between supply runs, its better to do two different ores on one station. Also... finding a tidally locked planet produces double the output for ray receivers.

Assuming you want 6000 universe matrices per minute (i.e. 10 per SECOND), and you have the resources for the other matrices, the limiting factor should be the dyson sphere. You need 10 antimatter per second, which equates to 5 critical photons per second. From what was shown, one ray receiver taking 25 MW generates 2 critical photons every minute, or one every 30 seconds (at the low end, its a better rate when they're fully charged). That means you'd need 150 ray receivers, which consumes... 3.75 GW. Which, while a huge number, is already only about a third of the current dyson sphere, yet alone a completely encased star. And that's for a rate of research that would complete end game researches in minutes (or less, for some). It seems like a shame to me. The game starts off really strong, but it looks like (at least from my perspective as a viewer) the endgame isn't nearly as good. The game makes a point of having a cluster of 64 stars with various resources, but outside of your starting system - and maybe a second one if you decide to build the dyson sphere in a different place - there's no reason to treat any of them as anything more than mining colonies, no different than a train stop at a mineral patch in factorio. The game makes a big deal about the dyson sphere, but even a half-assed attempt at building one is more than enough to get you a decent rate of research - it might even be possible with just a swarm, not even building a complete sphere (though that would likely be an entirely different challenge). Make no mistake, the game looks awesome, and the idea certainly is, but I feel the endgame needs a tune-up, if not a rework. EDIT: Corrected the maths for the size of his Dyson sphere - its bigger than I thought. He has WAY more power than he needs - there's no way he'll need as many critical photons as he's making. I can only hope that splitting them into antimatter takes enough power to justify the dyson sphere.

The missing tech: Accelerant may be something power hungry or maybe something else is added later, but I do agree that power seems quite unlimited when you have a Dyson Sphere as it currently stands

The resource cost of Graviton lenses doesn't feel worth it to me. Did some quick math, and building 50 receivers supplied by lenses will take 105 minutes to consume as much iron as making 100 Receivers, and 60 minutes for the copper cost. Even going up to 200 receivers, to account for both time they're not active and the double efficiency, you'd only need to be generating for 3h to equal out the cost.

I was thinking about the setup you made to stop the wastefulness of the discharging of the accumulators; Can that be solved by just having an array of placed accumulators? They may absorb excess and discharge automatically? It may not work, but it may be simpler than what you made.

If you have ray receivers in a planet with an atmosphere and you feed it graviton lenses, you don't need to consider if it is facing the star or not. You can place it in the dark side and it will just use the ionosphere to generate photons.

now a little question: considered all the infrastructure required to capture photons(making graviton lens is not necessary), process them into antimatter, assembly them into fuel rods and then feeding them into artificial stars, the power produced by the stars is actually larger than the power used to produce the fuel rods? or it's just better to harness the dyson sphere directly into power?
@kiranmeyers6558
@kiranmeyers6558 3 жыл бұрын
The fuel rods are space efficient. The ray receivers convert the dyson sphere power into photons at a much higher rate than directly into power. And the antimatter fuelrods can be shipped anywhere as the most efficient form of power transportation.
@Nilaus

It doesn't matter. Solar energy is infinite, but converting it to a transportable form cost something, but that energy is realistically free since it comes from a star
@Ramschat
@Ramschat 3 жыл бұрын
It takes more infrastrusture to convert it directly into energy, because you need to build a lot more ray receivers to do that. Antimatter requires only a handfull of particle colliders and assemblers, it's actually incredible how little infrastructure you need for the gargantuan amounts of power it allows you to tap into
