Nice job mate. That turf looked great from the farm - really nice sharp edges makes it a breeze to lay each roll in nice & tight to each other. I’ve laid so many new lawns & what turns up looks like it’s been chewed by rats on the edges, no soil attached, falling apart or the sod being really uneven in thickness. Yours on the other hand looked amazing quality, so a big shout out to your supplier. The quality of the product makes a huge difference, not only when you’re trying to lay it, but the initial grow-in period as well. Therein lies the tip - buy from reputable growers & ask about the product you’ll be getting. Anyway Brenton, great content mate 🍻👍🏻

I'm pretty late to the party on this one but what kind on medium did you lay this on? looks like a sand mixture. I'm about to lay tahoma 31 and have leveled with a light 60/40 sand/clay. I wonder if thats fine to lay sod on or if i should add some topsoil?
@theaussielawn Жыл бұрын
Hi Casey, This was laid on a course riversand. It wasn't my first choice as I much prefer to use 70/30 but due to recent floods at the time I was unable to get it from the quarry. When you say 60/40 is that something you purchased? Generally sand quarries dont have anything much heavier than 70/30. As im assuming it would be a struggle to get it through the screening plant. What part of Aus are you in mate ? Cheers Brenton
@caseytoohey4777 Жыл бұрын
@@theaussielawn Sorry, I'm actually in South-East Texas. I'm just a Bermuda enthusiast that loves your videos. Light 60/40 is the common thing most suppliers have around here but it can have a few clumps of clay that would need rolling. I can get just about any mix though. I just bought a new constructed house and the lot is bare sand/clay - the builder said it was a mix of 60/40 & 70/30
@theaussielawn Жыл бұрын
@@caseytoohey4777 ahh cool no problem, I think to have at least 2-3" of a lighter sandy profile will be beneficial it also makes it easies to work and spread prior to your turf being laid. Good luck and I hope your T31 performs beautifully for you.

Don't you have to wait for watering days and only water for a certain amount of time on those days? I thought sprinkler days are different from hand watering days. Is this watering illegal, or fine-worthy? Or just fine and worth it.. This is a glorified couch grass yeah? Couch was a trend that has destroyed lawns for potentially all of eternity. It's the gift that keeps on giving and destroying every lawn that's grown in its place. This lawn scares me. Hardy is one thing. Impossible to get rid of is another.
@theaussielawn8 ай бұрын
There is a lot to unpack here in this message mate, As for watering that would depend on your local area or council etc what part of AUS are you in?. Yeah Tiftuf is an improved variety of couch grass. As for the sweeping comments about not being able to be removed or destroying lawns for all of eternity potentially I feel that view is a little alarmist. But I definitely appreciate your comments and input 😎
@locojazzhands8 ай бұрын
@theaussielawn Thanks for replying 🙏 I've had multiple truckloads of sawdust and soil to try to kill mine, I've had it all ripped out, ive put cardboard and sawdust over it. I've had new soil and lawn laid over it 3 times now, the last 2 times it was sir Walter, and the couch keeps coming through and taking over. I don't know how to stop it. Every time I've had to hand water because of our council regulations and don't have time to do that. I guess it's only a problem if someone complains. All my neighbours complain about everything though so I was just wondering if it's the same with new lawns and sprinklers. I never knew couch was such a hardy lawn that will withstand anything and everything thrown at it. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not!
