@theaussielawn24 күн бұрын
Hi mate the end height will ultimately depend on how thick the turf your laying was harvested for tiftuf if you eave it 15-20mm lower than the concrete that should leave the roll of turf just slightly proud of the concrete .

Great vid. It’s too late for me to top dress unfortunately , however I was wondering What sand do I ask for , when going to sand/soil yards? Cheers
@theaussielawn2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the topdressing it will depend where you are located mate, As for the sand 99% of landscape yards will not stock what I used. Best to go to your local yard and ask to see the different types of sand and pick one that looks similar to whats in the video. although its known as a 70/30 if you ask for that in most landscape yards they will give you a garden mix with some sorta sand which is not suitable

Could I keep mowing the tiftuf with the Honda forever or is it best to use the reel mower?
@theaussielawn Жыл бұрын
Absolutely you can mow tiftuf for ever with your Honda with no worries, But for the best cut possible a reel mower will take your tiftuf to a whole new level
@PsychOut101 Жыл бұрын
I laid some tiftuf about 8 weeks ago and it is very lumpy and bumpy. I mow it at the lowest setting on my ego rotary which is 20mm but it just scalps the high spots and leaves all the hollows. Can I top dress at this height of cut? Also it didn't get enough water when it was first laid so browned off initially. It recovered to a point and I used some scotts organic granular a couple of weeks ago that I already had but it has not really responded or thickened up much and just seems to be struggling to get going. Not being able to mow it evenly is probably part of the problem?
@theaussielawn Жыл бұрын
Hi mate if you can’t go lower then yeah you’ll have to make do and topdress it at the longer height. Make sure your new lawn is getting the equivalent of 1” (24mm) of water per week over two separate watering sessions e.g 12mm Monday and 12mm Thursday sorta thing. You can measure this by using a small rain gauge on a spike placed at ground level under your sprinkler.

It will be fine to lay it now or spring. Back when I worked on the golf course we laid turf in the depth of winter it takes ages to root down but really you can lay all year round.
