For a Beginner you did a great job. I am impressed. I'm a semi-professional and although I wasn't watching your video to learn anything, I just enjoy seeing people show their hidden talents. That’s normal! I often watch hours and hours of tutorials from many different you tubers to try and work out how to do something before o start. It’s much cheaper than paying someone else to do it right! Good luck, I’m sure you will do great. Just remember it takes a long time so slow and steady and try not to get frustrated with yourself.

I did mine, thank you for the video. Few advices; don't use paper cuts and move on. Take time cut pieces and apply, moving on with paper cuts will leave little spacing issues. Make sure socket outlet cuts or not big else you will have to buy big plates from Amazon 😅 I'm happy for doing such a great job as my first big DIY. Wifey helped too a little.

Love the 1,2,3,4 for getting the pattern started. Couldn’t tell because it was semi off screen but looked like you may have been ringing/rinsing your grout sponge in the sink, for anyone at home DO NOT do this, the cement/sand in the sponge will settle in your P trap and you’ll have flow issues. Get a bucket of clean water, and don’t dump that bucket down your drain either.

I wont use this now). I had ideas how to do it but your way is simple and makes sense plus the finished product is superb. Well done. Pedant note: You didn't appear to put a spacer between tile no 7 and 8, so did the grout hide this reduced space or did you put a spacer in later, that we didn't see? The finished tiling looked fine.

I was worried about all the tile waste and basically figured I would need to try to re-purpose the cut pieces and fit it in other places on the pattern. I never knew the tile could be cut so specifically that all the pieces perfectly fit together like this (the 1-2-3-4 method you showed). My subway tiles are 4"x12", do you think this method will still work? Your kitchen backsplash looks beautiful!

I used L tile edging. It’s a metal strip that looks like an L, you cut it to length and install it before you put the tiles on, then tile all the way up to it. Only 1 edge is seen in the end, the other side of the L is flat on the wall under neath the tiles. I show this at 20:18 in the video.

Can you tell me the distance between your countertop and cabinet? I’ve been thinking of a 2x10 tile and it seemed way too big but I see yours is 4x12 and the size looks great.

Nice video. I'm having a house build and installing 4x12 white tiles. I was nervous that it might be too big, but this video ease my mind😎

I had a moment of “oh gosh what have I done?” when I took the first tile out of the box, it felt huge! But once they went on, it looked great. Not too big at all.

Would you be kind to share where you got those tiles from? Here at my local area so many kinds.

I bought these on Gumtree or eBay, they were left overs from someone else’s job. But they should be easy enough to find. These are 100x300mm or 4x12 inches.

Genesis Reyes thank you so much! I used 100x300mm tiles. I bought them on gumtree from someone who had them left over from another job. But these are quite cheap tiles anyway. You should be able to get them at any tile retailer. I would suggest looking at a few local independent tile places and asking how much they have these for as Bunnings isn’t always cheaper when it comes to tiles.

I could recommend many things here. The most use full thing would be to apply the adhesive to the back of the tile rather then then the wall.

Loved this video!! Very helpful! What did you do at the bottom where it meets counter? Did you use silicone or stripping?
@NicoleHerrickDIY
@NicoleHerrickDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response. I used silicone along the bottom edge meeting the counter and paintable gap filler along the top where it meets the cupboards.

When using your speed square always use it to check the largest angle. You checked the smallest place. You should slide the speed square against the bottom guide. You can even leave it there while cutting.

Wait so tiles 3 and 4 are from 1 whole tile
@NicoleHerrickDIY
@NicoleHerrickDIY 3 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s right. Sometimes if you cut it slightly wrong you have to use just one side but then you can use the other side later for the other smaller upper and side edges.

You need to not hold the trowel so flat. You'll get better ridges and a better stick by holding the trowel more straight on.

And for that size tile you ready didnt need that sort of adhesive. Ready mixed in a bucket would have been ideal. Created more work for yourself.
