Does it affect the durability of

The question is cut off but I'm guessing you're asking if layering the vinyl affects the durability of it on the shirt. If you're using a high quality HTV and not overheating it in a way that would effect the glue, it should remain stuck when layered just as long as it will as only one layer. I have had circumstances when I was first starting out where some of the layers on top started to peel off the lower layers but that was really user error (I didn't heat it long enough or heated it too long) and not because of the layering itself. did you have to go into canvas workspace to separate the colors? that's what i get confuse with on layering. Im just trying to learn.

Yes, you'll need to have a separate layer for each color so you can cut each color of HTV on its own. Sounds like you'll need to trace the image you're using to split it apart unless it's an SVG already. I've got a video on basic image tracing in canvas workspace if that would help.
