Brilliant. .... been cutting vinyl for almost 25 years. I am now going to go to bed and cry myself to sleep now I realise how much money has gone down the drain in the many square miles of vinyl I must have wasted because I didn't know this. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Today I created my first .svg from a piece of clip art I purchased a few years back. Finally got the thing set, saved & uploaded to my Design Space. It wound up being 8 mats! OUCH! During the cut stage I realized I'd forgot to add registration marks. I was very happy to come upon your KZbin video! You helped me out of a big pickle! Q: As luck would have it I'm out of wax paper but have 3 rolls of parchment paper. Will that work?

I wore them to cover up a cut I had on my hand for the video...

The kind I use in the video is waxed on both sides as far as I can tell...

Wax paper is waxy on both sides, if yours is different then I would def do the waxier side so that the vinyl does not stick to it.

Yes you just have to pick up the top layer first (make sure the transfer tape is larger than the bottom layer) lock down the second layer with tape and do the same as in the video then repeat for as many layers down as you have. This would work for layers directly on top of each other only... if your graphic has pieces that are far apart from each other then you are better off doing it the registration mark way since you can't just guess the alignment. 😎😀

@@DAHCKRAM I came back to watch this again to see if it would work for 3 colors. So if I'm understanding you correctly, this is how 3 colors would work: Bottom layer blue, middle layer red, top layer yellow. You would put the yellow onto the red following this method. Nothing different about the approach. Then you would put the yellow/red onto the blue using the exact same method. Do I have that correct? And thank you for this video! I've done several 2-color projects now using your method, and I find it so much easier than struggling with the registration mark method, which I could never get quite right.

@@sonjamonsen Yes and make sure the transfer tape is bigger than the last layer... and in turn make sure last layer backing is bigger than the largest color layer... 😜

@@DAHCKRAM Thank you! Good tips to keep in mind. My first 2-color project that I did using your method, my transfer tape wasn't big enough, so I did learn that the hard way. Bottom line, don't be stingy with the wax paper, backing paper or transfer tape!
