You guys are amazing! Went to a dance last night. Had a great time and the ladies were lovely and appreciative but I know that I have lots of room to improve as a ballroom dancer, especially after a 20-month shut-down. Wasn't sure where or how. In hindsight, your advice is obvious. It really hits home how important it is to get the fundamentals right before grabbing out for fancy new moves to lead.

@@BallroomFeed Shared your video with my dance partner and right away she used your advice about keeping a strong connection in our Monday night dance class. I'm experienced enough to know when something doesn't feel quite right but not experienced enough to know the cause or how to fix it. I've only just discovered your channel but I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Many thanks!

im about as bad as it gets at dancing

@@dhorton3686 Don't worry about good or bad, D. If you want to dance, dance. It is as much in our nature as human beings to dance as it is to walk or to run. It is society that makes too many of us adults fear looking foolish. The very young don't have that fear. You know this old saying attributed to Twain (and variations of it to others)? “Sing like no one is listening, love like you never been hurt, dance like no one is watching and live like it is heaven on earth.” I'm not saying any of those are easy or even possible but we can get closer. I had no reason to think that I had any talent for dance, but I wanted to dance. I took lessons for seven solid years (plus two Covid years, on and off). I'll never be brilliant at it but today I can use what I've learned and I'm almost at a place where I can dance like nobody's watching. Haven't made much progress on the other things. I'll finish with another quote, this one from Nietzsche: “And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.” Hear the music and dance, my friend.

This is such an important topic because it proves how each partner plays a role and how to help each other out. Thank you, Chris and Lindsey!

In my opinion 2 of the most neglected topics in ballroom dance classes are lead/follow and styling/arm styling.

And one of the most neglected dances is Night Club 2 Step. This dance always flummoxes me. How about some basic NC2 videos?

This was great...a whole course would be great. I am an exceptionally good dancer by myself, but it falls apart with a partner. This filled in some gaps. Ty

I started watching these videos to prep for my dance with my future DIL at the wedding. I did practice some of the steps in my GF's living room and I'm still awkward, but I feel much more comfortable, and natural. It's odd that a structure dance feels more casual than the random "dancing" I'm used to.

Hi Rich! Start with the basic (whatever dance you are doing), make sure they can follow that and then if it's successful try some more easy moves! Dance is a universal language luckily :)

I really love to dance! I'm really great at Zumba in fact I used to be a instructor. I also dance UJAM, GROOV3, LINE DANCING, HULA AND CIZE. I'M GREAT AT THESE DANCES! BALLROOM I love dancing, but I find it difficult to be the leader and lead a lady. In DANCE FITNESS PROGRAMS I DON'T HAVE TO BE A LEADER LIKE IN BALLROOM. HOPEFULLY I WILL BE ABLE TO AFTER FOLLOWING YOUR VIDEOS. THANK YOU.
