It is very funny I went through many of the olly’s KZbin playlists where he stressed mainly on reading and listening and here I found the same person is focusing more on speaking 😮

Nice interview, as Olly mentions, starting is always easy, I think one of the things we (language learners) struggle with is, how to keep going on, and how to go beyond that beginner line.

@@Languagementoring Thank you! Motivation is really important, I guess as long as I have someone to talk in my foreign languages, that keeps my motivation up!

The edits on this video are very entertaining! You guys are my fave polyglots that I’ve been following through the years. Are there any tips for introverts or people who are shy and don’t like speaking? 😅 I think that has been one of my biggest struggles. I like learning languages but I’m not adventurous enough to to go out and meet people to practice a language.

@ling8595 If you're shy, you can practice speaking by self-talk. 🙂 We have a blog post about this method. You can read it here: www.languagementoring.com/how-to-use-self-talk/ Barbara from LM team

Keep in mind that for a European or Russian or middle eastern, learn a different language fluently is not that harder because most countries are nearby. If you live in central Russia, that could be more difficult because Russia is a big country and I’d say that air travel is expensive. In my case, I live in US , more specifically south Texas. We have the influence of Central America in which essentially is Spanish influence but the sound of a Mexican speaker is very different from a speaker from Spain . I honestly don’t like the sound of a Mexican speaker, but from Spain is much better. The sound of a person from Argentina or Uruguay is much better compared from all the countries of central and south Americas . I speak 3 languages only: fluent in English, Portuguese and I’d say 90% Spanish. I’ve been in Brazil from north to south and there are very noticeable differences from region to region . The sound of people from Portugal is much better to my ears. The gaucho from Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is different from a “paulista “ of São Paulo region . In Rio de Janeiro is interesting to hear how they pronounce the “R” letter… reminds me of French language. I believe there’s no such thing as a perfect fluency if you are a polyglot other than your own native language because the learning process takes time and the culture plays a significant part in the learning process . My goal is to learn 🇷🇺 Russian, not because of Ukraine, but because of Russians themselves. They are great people with a great culture. Cheers 🍺

I’ve always admired Olly but I was disappointed after watching his interview in Spanish….he was constantly searching for words…it was painful to watch….
