I always found playing a backing track on a looper pedal, then playing the scale and trying playing it rhythmically and playing up and down makes learning the scale that much easier!

A good practice similar to these on scales is to play the scale normal for 3 strings then step back 1 string, repeat to the bottom. 3 down, 1 up, 3 down, 1 up and so on.

The way I learned solos is having the same time signature but playing the sequences twice in a row and the learn it how it supposed to be played
