I'm getting back into music production after a 10+ year hiatus, and your channel has been fantastic. I previously used Cubase and before that a digital 8-track (god bless the Boss BR-1180!), and for the last few weeks have been working through your brilliant Ableton series; discovering what Ableton can do particularly in session view from a song-writing perspective has been a dream... so thank you for putting together such awesome content.

Sounds like me. I tried it about that time ago... Failed miserably, trying it again. Completely switched to Ableton Live instead of FL studio. Figured I would wipe the slate clean so to speak and learn a new DAW along with everything else. Zero musical knowledge/theory either, definitely a struggle for me!
@itsawoleyworld855 Жыл бұрын
Hmm I’m impressed, I almost never hear of Cubase users on KZbin unless there from Asia Been using that forever just because my dad used it and it seemed pretty straight forward to use, not confusing at all BUT I don’t feel it gets the same tutorial support on KZbin in comparison to fruity loops and Ableton

my ultimate dream is to make music. i want to use this magnificent thing called music to move people and to share the love God taught me. but i never knew where to start, i felt quickly overwhelmed and i just watched everyone on social media getting better and better while i was just sitting there doing nothing. but now i am more than determined to learn music and to become an artist. i am so grateful for your video because it helped me designed a path. thank you taetro, i will definitely follow more of your videos !

I literally sucked into the vortex of choosing the "most suitable" MIDI keyboard to start learning like you said. Non-stop watching different reviews of gears and set-up (including some of your videos) which made myself so lost and dunno what to do. After watching THIS video I get hold of my direction and the very first motivation again . I ain't lost anymore. From your videos I can see you are a very good mentor, not reluctant to share your useful advices , ideas and reviews. No matter I become a confident producer or not in the future, I thank for your sincerely sharing and will continue to support your channel

dude, i absolutely love music, i think its probably one of the top 5 biggest things in my life, but the catch is, i dont know anything about making it. Thanks to you, ive learned all the keys so far in my head, though im still trying to get there with muscle memory. I have a keyboard in my house so that's what im using to learn/practice. Eventually, i hope to be producing music on my own so i dont have to search for free beats on youtube to sing/rap to. I love how expressive music is, so im taking it upon myself to learn how to make it. Tbh the type of music im most excited to make is probably some don toliver type beat shit

I have to leave a comment. I must say, I am incredibly thankful for finally starting to follow what I desire (and fear at the same time). I found this video to be exactly what I needed. A great starting point. To cut a long story short, I have been struggling to find a passion for living again. My days were unfulfilling, and yet, okay. This evening I managed to start building, both my life and my passion for life itself, again, and… to cut a long story short, watching this video - letting this video into my heart felt like the start of something great. A second breath, perhaps? Simply, thank you, man!

Lol its funny true, cause watching your channel got me set up to start, I had done my stuff, had to pause last year cause life and also released than if i wanted to doc ertain things i had to retake keyboards classes, read and learn about many musical stuff and even in my tightest schedule I tried to instead just mindless consuming do a small loop or whatever. Im resuming this year and yeah I never though i would be that far, this year Ill resume the music thing as I keep pratising. I feel its overwhelming cause its learning music theory and then applying it to an isntrument and then my DAW to come up with the stuff I want... but baby steps, thats the important thing. Thanks and thanks for all you videos, the few ones than actually dont tell you to buy lots of gear to make electronic music in your bedroom

I used to play piano, marimba, trumpet, drums, keyboard, and play a recorder and play my own music that way instead of making it on the computer so I actually know a little bit about making music. your beginner series have helped me so much, especially music theory which i’ve always struggled with. one more thing that i’ve had difficulty with that i’d love to hear your take on is how to prioritize what and when… between learning music theory, your DAW, synthesizers, song structure, rhythym, mixing, and a hundred other aspects of creating music - with limited time to study and practice each day, how do you decide what’s important and when?

I’ll be 30 in two weeks, I started to get super interested in this within the last year. I wish I got into it much earlier, like in my early 20s, but I also don’t want age to discourage me. The thought that it could take 10+ years to be successful, if ever at all sounds scary, but at the same time I know I’ll grow old and regret not knowing if I could’ve been great at something. Life’s short, it’s scarier to think of dying with regret than the thought of failing.

Ahh I really like your minset Taetro ! So simple and authentic. 🤗 It is interesting that all these advices are the same in the illustration industry I work in. Especially watching the process in real time or simply doing the damn work instead of searching too long for the perfect gear or the quick life changing tutorial :D Thank you for helping us learning both the musical theory AND the technical aspect of the DAW, you are right, knowing about music theory helps a lot while learning Ableton. Like drawing/painting fundamentals, we have to know them so we don't apply mindless recipes to (re)produce beautiful art. I'm currently close to be able to produce the music I want on Ableton, buuut still need to practice a bit :) Cheers ! ✌

When it comes to gear there's necessities and wants. Necessities would be things like an audio interface and a midi controller if you're only working in DAW, but if you have hardware synths a midi usb midi thru or midi host device and a mixer are absolutely critical . I tried connecting my 3 synths with a passive adapter and it sounded like absolute crap, unusable. Getting things to sync up with just a sync cable also didn't make my life a breeze. Templates are also really worth setting up because having to make specific setups every time you open up Ableton can be off-putting, especially when they're not easy to set up. Now I can just turn on my gear and instantly go and be producing beats within 5 minutes and it has been an absolute game changer. I don't need new gear because I learned the limits of my current ones and know what I'll need in the future instead of what I want.

There is no quick fix. Different equipment should be used to solve different problems. Learn from the masters, some of the greatest music producers are still alive today. Make music. No music equipment will compensate for the lack of talent or dedication to learn either music theory or how to use the DAW. There is no such thing as a overnight sucess. Thank you for the informative video TAETRO.
