Thanks a lot. I tamed a Thistle Bear to get Claw (Rank 2) but I didn't learn it upon taming or killing anything. I thought I made a mistake and googled it, but couldn't find anything. Then I found your Video explaining I just need to keep killing things with the pet and voilà I learned it. Thank you. It really helped^^

@@Rysix19 I didn't learn the skill upon taming. It's says that in my Comment. Without having the Skill I can't teach it to my other Pets. That was the Issue that has been solved through this Video. Also said in my Comment. What do you not understand? 🤔

@@MortimerFolchert Well the thing is i was playing on a 1.12 server tamed like 5 boars and not one had the charge ability, so my question was if you have to kill mobs with the new tamed pet for his charge ability to pop up in the pet skillbook or your beat training, or was i bugged or something

@@Rysix19 Yes. You need to kill mobs with the new Beast in order to learn the skill. That's what he's doing and explaining at 1:53 onwards.

@@MortimerFolchert The thing is i dont mean for "you" to learn the skill in the beast training but the NEW tamed pet doesnt have the skill. I know that after you tame a new pet you have to USE his skill on mobs so YOU can learn it and later teach it to your other pet. But in my case the boar didnt have the charge ability as he should

Loyalty does not affect the chance of you learning a new pet skill, its by chance each time your pet attacks. What I found out when collecting pet skills is... - Throw your pet into any fights, you don't need to do damage. - Level of the enemy doesn't matter, getting exp/lv does not affect the pet (Set pet status to Aggressive in a under leveled zone and let it go fight by itself) - Make sure to cast its ability as much as possible. (Right click pet skill icon to auto cast it) It should take avg 1-5mins to get a pet skill, one time I got mine under a minute so its really rng wise.

i tamed a frostsaber stalker to learn prowl rank 3. it taught me dash rank 3 but after killing mobs for like 25 minutes still no prowl...

This is still true in TBC. You have to learn and then train new ranks of abilities for your pet.

@@scubastevehc I like Bite and would recommend keeping that current. So your pet would have Growl and Bite active while leveling. You can turn Bite off if your pet is having Focus problems between mobs. The other interesting option is going through the effort of getting a Ravager from the alliance area at Level 14ish.

You probably 'unlearned' your pet's abilities before you learned Gore from your ravager. If you do not have Gore Rank xx in your Beast Training skills, then you will have to tame a creature that knows it and learn it from that creature.

1. Use Petopia or Beast Lore to confirm that the pet actually has the skill you want to learn. You can still use Beast Lore on tamed pets. 2. If it is a skill like Dash or Thunderstomp, you don't need to be in combat. Simply keep pressing the skill button on the pet bar while you're running around, at the bank, at the auction house, etc. My guess is the pet doesn't have the skill you're trying to learn, but I hope the above steps help.
