Tim, Your tips are so clear and easy to follow. Tips like these do save us time to learn playing piano. I've seen great tips like yours on KZbin about music theory, all centered around the circle of fifths. Thought you might have great tips on the circle of fifths as well. Thanks

I've followed so many of your videos that I knew this. But the title intrigued me and I'm warching out of curiosity. I am impressed. Very impressed. You had a good teacher, and I'm sure he's appreciating his student. BTW what is his name? He gave a concert highlighting Black composers and I'd like to watch again.

This is amazing. It's a great path for every level, and a very useful reference to objectively evaluate where your skills are at. Which I think the biggest challenge of self-learning. Thank you for your time and effort!

SMALL CORRECTION: at 5:48 when I am talking about minor equivalents, the text should say "a minor" instead of "c minor". Also at 6:18 it should say "e minor" instead of "g minor". The minor equivalent of C major is A minor. The minor equivalent of G major is E minor.

@@edwinbab3205 If you want to be able to easily control the volume of the notes, then a (good quality) weighted keyboard is what you want. If you don't care so much for having a lot of dynamic control, then an unweighted keyboard will do just fine, you can still get some volume control if it's also touch-sensitive, just not a whole lot.

Cb is B, which sounds weird to me. Why don't we call it B major scale?
@Persun_McPersonson
@Persun_McPersonson 3 күн бұрын
It usually is B major. C♭ major is a relic from a time before twelve-tone equal temperament, the tuning system we all use today. Before 12-TET was the standard, B and C♭ were actually slightly different, which gave each of them a different character.
