I go for 10 consistent valid laps (preferably in a race against slower AI), then I do a hot lap session, chasing my own shadow, this is when I start to play with lines, curbs and breaking zones. Then I race first against my actual AI pace, then I race online. Takes a long time, but the hotlaps chasing my own shadow really does help me experiment with lines and breaking points.

Man I discovered your videos. I'm older. Retired. I dig sim racing as a NEWB. The info on Practicing and learning tracks, fuel management...etc... Fun!! Thank you!

Basically this is how I've learned tracks and cars since I started sim racing with Papyrus Indy Car 2 many years ago. And I still do to this day.

Yeah man I find it’s the best way!

Freaky, I started doing this only yesterday after getting a little frustrated with my inconsistency. Great advice as always man.

Hey Kevin, just wanted to say found you KZbin channel few months ago and have benefited from it a lot, keep up the good work. I play on ps5 with a controller and I’ve been teaching my self to go through every track to learn it, I do a similar thing to what you are saying, only thing I add is I have the racing line on for a few laps just to give me a rough gauge as to where it wants me to brake and how much speed I can take through a corner something that’s difficult for me to gauge without it. Once ive done that I normally turn it off then do a race with the ai to see where I sit then if I need to practice more I do so until I can match the ai when there are set around 90-95% then it’s just a matter of more practice until I race them at 100%, then after that I would like to start racing people in leagues and such, unfortunately I’m in Australia so there is some leagues but not as many as say Europe or something

Great tips and video as always man, doing this helps so much with learning how to be patient, how the track feels in an area with less rubber or marbles, all this to help people learn how to drive the limit everywhere so that they can race side by side without going deep every single corner. I also like the idea of trying out different cars to learn how the other cars drive including the slower cars like the gt4, tcx, etc. Keep up the great work.

@@Bratmouse1 just had an idea for a short that just explains the server browser and how to read it because I just had someone ask me how to know if they are joining a race session or a quali session because they are tired of joining mid session instead of a quali session and I also saw someone on reddit asking about the orange bar that shows you how dynamic the weather is on the server the other day and saw a few people confused saying it was ping when it is not might be a good tutorial type short

I usually start out by doing a few slow laps to take a look at the track, "research" corners and apexes and then gradually get faster. When I feel like I´m not quite there, I´ll set the AI to max and watch the fastest one for a few laps. Then I´ll try to use those lines, braking points etc. and watch track guides for those missing nuances. Driving WITH the AI is actually a good idea, but I imagine it to be a bit hard to withstand the urge to overtake them :D

I do a lot of racing vs the AI because ACC ps5 lobby are being dumb( hope it change with the new crossplay). After a lot hours on Ps5 ACC and fighting the AI at 100% , i can tell it’s a very good experience , the AI fights a lot and you will win place because of dead AI, which dont happen often in other video game( like never in F1🤦♂️, ride like a train. ) and are somewhat cleaner than lobby😔. I would suggest 97% for AI , cause at 100% they dont give you space and will definetely hit you. I’m at 100 cause i do more following than overtake to increase my safety rating
