I struggled with addiction for almost 10 years. I have been in and out of jail/prison for years. I now have my Bachelor's degree in criminal program support services. 📚 I hope to use my experience in the system and my degree to help others better understand addiction and our prison system. This story is based on my own personal opinion and experiences.

As a narcissist that has changed EVERYTHING about myself because I saw the pain it put my children in. I disagree that a narcissist can’t change. They have to want to, they have to be able & be to a point they can step back and see the pain they are inflicting to people they care about. That’s not easy NOR is it common. Most don’t change & I would NOT EVER recommend someone try to stick it out or think they can change a narcissist because they can’t. I have been blessed to be able to be self aware.

They don't change... it's lifelong ....just like sociopathy. If they change ( for a protracted period of time) , you have the wrong diagnosis. This lady who has the channel has a dependant personality ...they often hook up w narcissists and sociopaths. One likes to control.....the other likes to (unconsciously ) be controlled. Miniature cult.

I lost everything when I stood up for myself and put him in prison after nearly killing me for the last time. I mean everything. Even immediate family. Three years later I cannot hold a job. Have been chronically homeless. Chronically ill. Lonely. All while in recovery. I still have hope. I still think my worst day post his arrest is better than any day with him. ..

Jessica, I just found you yesterday and your videos are so helpful! I also left a narcissist many years ago (2010). Your statement about making a plan is on-point!!! Please people, listen to her and make a plan to leave to go somewhere safe. Take all of your important documents with you and anything you value, because once you leave you will likely not get it back. In my plan, I hired an attorney ahead of time to protect myself and my at the time four year old daughter, legally. Which brings me to; when you share custody with them, you need to make your custody agreement as black and white as possible. Any gray area they will manipulate. Lastly, Dr. Ramani is a great resource.

Thank you for speaking about this Jess! I myself have wondered why I attract narcissists and men that would treat me like I was below them and I was always doing something wrong. I've realized that I also displayed toxic and abusive behaviors in my previous relationships and I've worked very hard to change. I'm still working and changing at 25, and right now I'm dating a very nice man and I only have God to thank for that. Thank you for being such a great advocate, whether it be relationship issues or addictions❤

This is all so familiar, Jess. It's officially been a decade since I left my ex for the final, ultimate time. It is one of the two best decisions I've ever made in my life. (The other being getting off my DoC ❤) One tip I'd also give for people in this situation is LET GO OF TRYING TO SWAY OR CONVINCE THEM. LET GO OF TRYING TO EXPLAIN THE PROBLEM TO THEM. They are not going to suddenly "understand" or "see it" ("it" usually being your desperate pleas for them to stop)...no matter what shape you twist and contort yourself into for them, to jump through their hoops. An untreated narcissist does not operate in good faith in terms of logic and will cyclically argue with you until you're blue in the face. They need PROFESSIONAL help, YOU cannot help them and a drowning person WILL take you with them.

I was married to a narcissist for 15 years he was extremely verbal mental and emotional abuser. It was extremely hard to leave him the hardest thing I ever had to do. He had been having a five year affair and was begging me to go back I was weak I went back to him and 12 hours later I was gone resulting in me having a nervous breakdown but I would do it all over again truthfully I wished I had left him sooner that's my only regret. Anyone in this situation PLEASE LEAVE THEM IT ONLY GETS WORSE!!!!!! So happy you are doing good you wholeheartedly deserve it ❤

I left 7 years ago. He was awful to me. He spent all the money and I needed new winter boots, I bought them anyway, it was bad. He would also threaten my late cat, abs I mean this cat was my best friend. I thought it was all over and years later it was a Catholic and Annulment. He expected me to come before a church and explain myself. I hoped out of that one.

Yep same, the point I eventually left it was because I was “broken” too and just couldn’t stay anymore. Started not to be able to sleep. Tossing and turning at things I knew on my subconscious and couldn’t ignore anymore. He was so converted too which is why I over stayed. And kept getting back: because he lied on a level I couldn’t even understand how it would be possible.

Can i ask a serious question, At the very beginning you said that something about you attracts narcissist. And it was just wondering how you would know that your new relationship isn't the same. And it's not just starting out with love. Bombing like every new relationship does. I'm not specifically trying to attack your relationship with Berner. I'm just saying it wasn't very long in between your relationships to really allow yourself to heal. Enough to see a narcissist before they become the narcissist. If that makes sense. I really hope this doesn't sound offensive.

Usually people who “attract narcissists” are the narcissists themselves. When they cut ties with people they have to villainize them by calling them the narcissists. It’s how they maintain the perception that they are never wrong.

I think this is very helpful in identifying and creating healthier relationships. Thank you for sharing your experience, it is necessary to learn to listen further ✨ It is also important to identify what there is in us that attracts us to toxic behavior patterns. As you mentioned, both parties have responsibility, but if we want to live in a more healthier space, we must first investigate our traumas, etc.

I thank God, I have never experienced a narcissist partner. But I have witnessed my little sister date and have a baby with a narcissist. It was the craziest situation, I was so shocked at what she would put up with, and navigate his toxicity. I just knew that was not the way my sister wanted to handle things. She was lucky enough to have a very strong support system who no matter what shit that guy threw at us we always came back with “she has US NO MATTER WHAT”, and I believe with my whole heart that is the only reason my sister survived and luckily got away from him. I am so sorry to all the people who are dealing with someone like this. They truly destroy you as a person and make you believe it’s your fault. I pray for everyone in a horrible relationship to be able to find their way out. You truly deserve better. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

As an outsider looking in and someone that has been watching your channel and your relationship with Reece since you were at around 11k subscribers, I could be completely off base here in how you interpreted things in your own relationship but I always got a "Fatherly" vibe from Reece in the way he treated and talked to you. His demeanor just came off more as a strict, disappointed Father talking to his Daughter, even in the way he said your name, and you seemed to go off of that energy that he was putting out, by essentially trying to fill that role of the Daughter that's kept trying to get his approval and make him proud, rather than having a dynamic of 2 adults in an equal partnership where there's no power dynamics or one person having any kind of authority over the other. Like I said, I could be totally wrong and you could have seen it completely different but that's just the impression that I got from observing you two interact. And I say that with absolutely no disrespect to you or anything, so I hope that you don't take it the wrong way. It just reminded me of myself and similar patterns that I noticed in my own relationships, which I now believe is a result of having "Daddys issues", with my Dad being mostly absent for the vast majority of my life, and I think that's why I was initially attracted to that kind of dynamic and treatment because it was something that I subconsciously was craving due to not having that Father figure growing up and into my adulthood. I would misinterpret their controlling and critical behavior as if they were that Father figure that was just being protective and pushing me to do better, completely blinding me from the glaring red flags. It's taken me half my life (I'm in my early 30's) to finally figure this out and realize this about myself but now that I'm aware of it, thankfully I've been able to see things more clearly now and not as easily fall into those kinds of relationships that are unfortunately sort of a place of comfort for me, born out of trauma.

My ex gave me a way out, we had this HUGE fight where he trashed the apartment and fled, then came back three days later packing up the entire living room and I just sat there SOBBING asking him to stop, to just talk to me and tried to find a reason for him to stay, for us to not to separate. He then left again and didn't come back for maybe 2-3 days, where he sat there and cried to me asking if he was making the right decision, and I had days to myself to think about it and honestly I told him it was the correct decision to leave, to move out and not have to deal with the endless cycle. In a way it was like he wanted ME to choose for him, but yet anytime I begged, pleaded ect he would tell people I "manipulated" him to do xyz so I was done with that. September 3, 2023, my aunt and uncle picked me up and took me all the way back to my home state (they were traveling from my home state to Mississippi so Louisiana wasn't to far off) As soon as I got back to my home state, I felt so free, I was able to go out whenever I wanted, I was able to walk around ect and I fucking LOVED it. I spent so many years isolated. 24 hours after I got back, he messaged me on Snapchat basically crying about how he came back home to an empty apartment with no notice, in the same message he then was passive aggressive towards me and said condescending shit to me all while claiming he missed me and then followed by him sending me videos of me he had recorded and lyrics to a song he wrote for me. I never answered back. I made the mistake a month later of contacting him where I spent six months hoping for closure, hoping for an apology ect and I didn't get that, all I got was him circling arguments that I already had acknowledged and taken accountability for, six months of him saying how I was the worst girlfriend he's ever had ect. My partner could see how it affected me so in April I stopped, and my ex was NOT happy by any means and sent me one last message of how this is the reason why he doesn't want to speak to me (because he laugh reacted a post about him I had shared on Snapchat trying to bait me and when I didn't give me the exact response he threw a fit) The aftershock is REAL tbh. It's almost been a year and I STILL have aftershock and it's insane.

That’s not even close to true. We don’t all say our ex was a narcissist. Research the behavior of a narcissist and also research all forms of narcissistic personality disorder. Calling someone a narcissist because they hurt you is very different from surviving narcissistic abuse from someone with clinical NPD. Using pop psychology buzz words like "narcissist" or "sociopath" because a toxic person cheated on/lied to/abused you is different than being abused by someone with diagnosed clinical narcissistic personality disorder. Someone with NPD *has to* meet a certain set of criteria to be diagnosed with said personality disorder. A toxic person does not need to be diagnosed with a cluster b personality disorder to be toxic/abusive. Hope that helped

@@JessicaKent well that's what I meant really, that its the new buzz word (not literally that every girl is now calling their ex a narcissist). Though I do worry MY exes say it lol. Sorry I'm a bit more sensitive cause I'm sort of cluster b but I don't seem to score high in narcissism even though there are definitely a couple of narcissistic traits. I know you have content and all that to do. And I like you, I'm a subscriber. But constructive criticism; you, yourself seem to 'split' on people a lot, which is a cluster b trait and you seem to do it more than I do. I just don't like demonizing anyone. Not 'pedos' not 'narcissists' not any 'ist' or any 'abuser' any label that is used to take someone's humanity from them. People are people. but thats just my opinion and from a distance, so please dont take it personal. I like your content

I don’t know, you chose this guy because there’s a part of you that’s narcissistic as well. I mean, you went to prison because you thought you were above the law 🤷🏻‍♂️. Pot calling the kettle black

This is funny not really being sarcastic but I’m in a narcissistic relationship for 3 years and at first I didn’t know but now I understand buts it’s been hard to not want to be with him and even wanting to do the deed I haven’t been wanting to do with him and he still begs me to do and I have a 1 month old son so it’s kind of hard because we have a ACS case too

@@Theluckyfamvlogs. He’s going to make sure you have no friends, no family, no job. That you solely rely on him. He will suck you dry and keep sucking you dry until you’re able to get the strength to leave. Make a plan immediately. Talk to someone who can help you set up that plan and follow through. Prayers 🙏
