How to Lengthen or Shorten a Sewing Pattern

Do you have a particularly long or short torso, legs or arms? If this sounds like you, you might want to consider lengthening or shortening your sewing patterns to get a better fit. This is one of the great things about sewing - you can adjust just the parts you need to get a garment to fit your unique shape.
Tilly and the Buttons sewing patterns feature lines which indicate where to lengthen or shorten the sewing pattern from. The process is the same whether you’re lengthening a bodice, sleeve, skirt, trouser leg, or whatever the relevant pattern piece may be.

What height are your patterns made for? I’m new to sewing, trying to do your pj bottoms from Love at First Stitch and no idea how much to shorten them by, I just know I need them shorter

5ft 5 I think it is. I'm 5ft 2 and have to shorten mine.

when i have done this the crotch is very low when wearing them. help.

Try not to alter the crotch. Can you use the other line to lengthen in the crotch is ok for you?

You can Google the answer to this. I keep screenshots on my noticeboard to remind me of things like this. Its hard to explain.
