I miss my friend Andrew so much. He was an amazing guy and the best live sound guy I've ever known.

@@jcsoundguy damn, that really sucks.. He's still touching folks with this knowledge, and that's awesome. Helped me out a ton.

Excellent info! If you're using the L2 somewhere in the signal chain and there is a significant component of voice (speaking, preaching, etc.) I'd suggest people disengage the ARC (auto release). I find that it introduces too much distortion with many voices if you have some gain reduction going on. Try the release around 100ms.

@@rollomaughfling380 I don't get why this video is so long... They can't just say what the title is, explain it quickly. Show examples. And shows how to mix it better?

100% agree on the extra metering. I do the same with my home setup. I look-at and compare about 3 main output levels on my gear before I'm consistent to continue mixing. My limited experience in live-broadcast sound had a lot of trial-by-fire moments that necessitated more monitoring between multiple systems. Safer to maintain and much-faster to troubleshoot the what and where when things get crazy. Found my way here on that 2020 Grammy Flash Sale for the L2. Cheers y'all!

You gotta love dynamic eqs with the threshold set to 0dBFS. Is sounds sooo “eq”instead of a “dynamic eq”

Not that it has anything to do with what was actually said and I like Waves and all but why do so many of these videos have intros that are so loud and then instantly have people talking in inside voices

not one mention about broadcast level standards or RMS. How does one build up RMS levels in a mix? While peak values matter a lot, most churches are struggling with too loud and too quiet. Content is great, but some big gaps missing. Waves has the tools to fill those gap!

I don't see the point in using the live mix for your live broadcast as well since the live mix is tuned to the room ... unless you had that perfect room.
@soulsweet174 жыл бұрын
That’s true most places have a split and keep their live mix independent from their broadcast mix

we need a "podcasting standard" that insists the first 10 seconds of the video will GRADUALLY increase the volume ! ! ! REALLY !!! ... a segment on COMPRESSION?.... (...and when NOT to overcompress!!!)
