Could you do a video on leveling the pads themselves to get a good seal on the tone holes? I always have trouble getting them settled.

On cups with spuds I level on a back of (drive side) level automotive socket. No need to grind. Requires a little more finesse but doable. Just make good and sure the work surface is level !
