Very nice video. I would add DONT MISS OUT ON TOUR OF WATOPIA when you can double and sometimes triple your XPs! It’s a XP bonanza and you will level up like crazy. You should do a video on that if you already haven’t. Love the channel and advice.

Ironically, one of my fastest XP gaining workouts is structured :) I use it when I want to do some aerobic base work for 80-90 minutes. Here's the idea: - select the Road to Sky route, - create a zone 2 workout that is long enough to reach the top, for me this is 80 minutes, - coast down after the workout is finished. During the climbing I'll get about 860 XP, at the top either 250 XP or 1000 XP (depending on what the wheel spins) and during the 13 km descent another 260 XP. That's 1370 XP (or 2180 when lucky) for a 90 minute easy ride, the equivalent of riding 69 km (or 109)!

Thanks for doing all this mathing! This is also a great workout to rack up those elevation meters to unlock the Tron bike.

@@swenderich I just created my first custom workout and I'm about to test it up AdZ. I read in a few places that you actually get a little more XP during time spent during the "intervals" vs when you're in "training blocks" (12 XP/min vs 10 XP/min). So I'm wondering if I want to do a Z2 workout like you, I can create extra-long intervals (ex: 30min intervals) that are only Z2 level power zones.

@@Randimal762 That's a great insight! In that case I'd make intervals for sure. Careful about one thing: if you don't hit the power target all the time, you only get part of the XP of the block you're in. Just to be sure, I chopped the workout into 10 and 15 minute blocks for that reason. So if I miss something, I can still get full XP for the other blocks. A set of intervals is counted as one block, so I'd build your workout from several short blocks of intervals then!

When using the TT bike you don’t get the draft benefit, so stick to the aero bike when in a group ride! Otherwise, great tips!

Volcano circuit is good for XP ride it ten laps in the same session for lots of points and 2 badges. Also warm up with Dan then run with Coco and warm down with Dan roughly 64km =1280 xp plus drops.

As you can create your own workouts, would that be the best way to get the most xp? Short easy intervals to guarantee a gold star? The example in the vid showed +29xp - would you get xp for every 30second interval you complete?

I am not sure. I know that Zwift insider has some workouts you can download that are designed specifically to get you the most XP

You can do multiple routes in a single Zwift session, but you have to know how to create a meet up ride ahead of time. Max 3 meetups per day

That must be new, I checked a few weeks ago and you could only do 1 route per session.

@@EricAbbottTri I could be wrong as well. You just have to carefully schedule each subsequent session to end after the one you're riding, and I believe you need to schedule subsequent meet up after you've started riding. A bit tricky on the app, but doable

For a structured workout couldn’t you make a custom one that has like 10 second intervals at an easy pace, and you just get a ton of stars

Structured workouts not your friend? You’d get Xp for distance and completing intervals. Double bubble there so they are your friend.

Did a structured workout yesterday and only got XP for the interval so if you are double dipping you have something else going on.

Things to follow up on. No “Roadie” would be upset about the concept of riding a TT bike. A TT bike is a Time Trial bike and that is a road discipline. I’m not actually sure if bike like the SHIV in Zwift are proper TT bikes or Triathlon bikes? There is a difference as the UCI applies restrictions that Triathlon does not. Also, riding a TT bike in a group ride may not be a good idea... just like in real life. I may be wrong but I believe when you ride a TT bike you do not benefit from the draft in group rides so you will go faster riding a traditional geometry.
