For those of you worried about the power, I have 1994 Suzuki sidekick with the same size tires and a mild lift. It has 95 hp and may be a tad lighter than the Crosstrek, not sure. It has a winch bumper and a rear locker. I love that thing! The Crosstrek would be a powerhouse compared to the Sidekick. I'm sure its still really fun the way its set up now.

The lift, those wheels(Including color), and the white on that Crosstrek, make it all come together fantastically!!! Thanks for the "Subaru Love" Blake.

This video is one of the best on a lot of levels. Biggest fro me is how he covers the methodology of the lift, it will help nearly anyone with a front strut suv/cuv put a lift on their rig. I plan on using this video as a step guide to lift my GLK350. The Mercedes is cheaper (used) than a comparable (year, mileage) forester and has good power. Thank you for the video!

Help! First off, I want to thank you for making our lives easier to lift my 2014 Crosstrek and adding on those method rims and KO2 tires. You were definitely the best source to find instructions. However, I took a trip to Ouray, CO and on the way there the "AT oil Temp" light came on my dash. I pulled over and let the engine cool and it drove normally, but happened repeatedly during the trip. The light came on five times during the whole trip. 2 times on the way from Dallas, TX to Ouray, CO, one time while off roading on different days. One on the Imogene Pass, and the other on Yankee Basin Trail. Then, one time during drive back to Dallas outside of Albuquerque, NM. I took it to the dealer and they're saying that's it's been driving in hot summer heat, plus the heavy tires, and the stuff on the roof rack is what was probably causing it. I drove about 2500 miles the whole trip. Is there anything I can do to improve my long distance trips? I've been looking all over online to find answers. Maybe I need to drill holes on my skid plates for more air flow? They're primitive racings like the ones you installed on Thomas'. Maybe I need to add a transmission cooler?
@stupidchicken036 жыл бұрын
I wouldnt run the roof rack with tons of stuff if possible. I know that might not be an option, but that thing does kill MPG and adds a ton of drag when driving. A trans cooler might be the best bet for that. Ive got a manual trans and have not had an issue with it thus far.
@christophergreen33846 жыл бұрын
I found out it was the Transmission Skid plate causing it, which was weird. I took it off and drove from Denver to Dallas, light never came on. Might drill holes on the skid plate to see if that solves any problems.

If this had a version w/ over 200hp I would've already bought it. Now that it's on the universal platform I wouldn't be supprised to see the 2.0 turbo in here soon
@zmuse7 жыл бұрын
I had a 2015 which had like 3-5hp less than the 2018 and even with the 5speed it sucked balls, especially on the highways. 2018 is better for the highways since it has the 6th gear but I am sure it is still really annoying having to constantly drop down a gear or two to get up over an ant hill. If they come out with a turbo one I will be the first in line.
@EricNelsonYT7 жыл бұрын
100% agree. I was SOOOOOOO excited because I was expecting a more powerful engine for the new model & a 6 speed manual also got me excited. But the lack of power is KILLING sales in the US. Offer an STI version for a couple grand more & they'll fly off the lot.

Dream on people....the CrossTrek is slow without a lift kit, I bet a Prius can beat it now with those tires.

HellBoy I want to be mad at this comment... But you're probably right lol. I drove a 2015 Crosstrek with the CVT & was depressed at how slow & unresponsive it was. The new model is hardly faster
@multivisao7 жыл бұрын
I know...I seriously considered buying one but that engine + CVT?...sorry not for me. I ended up having to decide between a Forester XT and Escape 2.0T, but Ford was giving a huge discount on the Escape and Subaru couldn't match so I ended up with one....it's fast! :D

Why did you choose manual? Isn’t the AWD superior with the CVT? Plus isn’t the X mode and hill decent useful? I am interested in this car, but don’t know if I want a manual or CVT.
@stupidchicken037 жыл бұрын
Personally, ive never owned an automatic, so I figured why start now. X mode seems pretty cood, but id have to actually test it off-road to see if it was worth it (id do that before buying one). I feel like you have more control of the car in a manual. I drive up around Lake Tahoe a lot especially in the snow. Its nice to not have to use your brakes as much on a decent.

Everyone is saying Subaru should put in the WRX engine or some sort of Turbo, and it makes a ton of sense for a million reasons. But I’d also love if they sold the car with a lift, larger off-road tires, and a supercharger. 200+ HP with 230+ torque would be awesome. In a dream world they would even sell a diesel version with even more torque.

So after 2 years of driving what has you're average mpg with the atv tires and lift? I'm in the market for a nomad setup for cell phone tower inspections. Main challenge is fuel mileage and bad access road conditions. I drive around 80-85mph on interstates and tackle eastern Kentucky, West Virginia, and parts of TN. Was thinking about a Chevy calorado long bed with Eco diesel but after watching this I'm really interested in a subaru
@stupidchicken034 жыл бұрын
Sept will be 3 years since owning the car and last Sept/early Oct will be 3 years since the lift and tires. Ive put on 43,000 miles with 135 tanks of gas (ive literally tracked each tank since buying the car with Fuelly). My average MPG is 23.8 for the lift of the car.

Love the Video! Its the only one i can find on the new 18. Putting a washer with a lock washer defeats the purpose of having a lock washer. Also the lock washer has to be touching the head of the bolt and the metal you don't want the bolt to be spinning on.
@BlakesGarage7 жыл бұрын
You need to revisit that theory. That is completely incorrect.
@sawyerwallace96317 жыл бұрын
The type of lock washer you use is made to bite into the head of the bolt and the surface you don't want it turning way from. So when the bolt turns out it actually tightens the lock washer. This is the way I was taught in Aircraft Technician school. I could be totally ignorant as well.
