Thanks man, I’ve worked as a laborer years ago and carried many sheets but just got asked to return a load of sheetrock so was looking up the “correct” way to do this before tacking it, I think I can manage the old tip and reverse grip,

If you tip Sheetrock up like that to get a grip you’ll likely break off corners. Try the Troll with wheels for sheet goods and no above the shoulder grip.
@essentialhandyman
@essentialhandyman 2 ай бұрын
I don't mind a little rolling of the corners, as the boards will be taped and jointed anyway, which will cover those inperfections.

Oh yes, the early days on site. I remember them well. It does get easier though. Your body toughens up, you stop getting blisters and develop callouses and onbe day you realise you're not in pain anymore. BNut remember one thing above all. Lift with your legs, not your back, or YOU WILL suffer later in life. I thought nothing of carrying steels for a through lounge on my own but my back curses me for it now. If you've got a specifgic question or need me to do a video on something you want help on, just drop a comment and I'll see what I can do. Cheers, and remember to like the video and subscrtbe to my channel.

That gripper is amazing. Smart. But you are correct, most of the time you only have your hands. Good tips.
@essentialhandyman
@essentialhandyman 3 жыл бұрын
Another thing about on site lifting is that quite often you'll lift more than one sheet at a time (depending on thicknes of course) and I wonder if the Gripper could handle multiple sheets and still lift effectively. I didn't actually try it with multiple sheets. I suspect it wouldn't be able to cope.

Hello. Thanks for the video. Do you think that the gorilla will work on lifting a big plywood (120x240) up stairs, to a floor.. so turning in small spaces, and the sheet beeing in an angled position. With just one hand to control it. Any exsperience to share✌️✌️✌️?
@essentialhandyman
@essentialhandyman 11 ай бұрын
If carrying upstairs you’re gonna be working in tight spaces. I’d ditch the Gorilla grip at the bottom of the stairs and stand the board upright, so you can carrying it in both hands, across the 120 dimension. This is when spit on your hands works wonders. Carrying up like this is tricky as you need to lift the board high enough to clear the treads, while not gouging lumps out of the ceiling, while being strong enough to turn the board through a 45 degree axis. Take it slow. No points for speed here. If you get tired, rest it (usually on a corner) on the stairs and take a wee break. Good luck and don’t forget to subscribe for more great advice.

@@essentialhandyman i just wonder if the gripper can indeed handle an angled position, or perhaps it cant and jawpressure loosen and board slides out. Any experience trying angled carries?

Try carrying them the way I show, turning your hand and resting it on your arm and let me know how that feels. I suspect you'll hate carrying sheets less, once you get the knack for it. Appreciate the sub Grumpy. I hope I can keep everyone entertained.

Thanks mate. I'm a 35 year old who just started training with a kitchen and bathroom fitter. Was working with an older experienced guy the other day. Carrying plasterboard from the van and I did it my usual spazzy way. Got the piss ripped right out of me 😂😂 It looks worse when it's a grey haired guy doing it wrong. Just makes you look like a plonker. People would be more understanding if I was a young apprentice. Next time I'll look like I know what I'm doing, thanks to you. Cheers brother.
