@@hobocyclist yeah it’s like having access to a generator on wheels 24/7. With the climate control, it’s fantastic. I spent time in every type of climate and it just doesn’t matter when you go to sleep at night and can comfortably set your interior temperature at 68-69 degrees and idle the car on your hybrid battery all night long. The Prius is a small car, but there is still a lot of hidden room inside for storage and plenty of space for someone 6’4 or 6’5 to comfortably lay down in the back of the car.

I'm in the UK and it doesn't get too hot here compared to Australia or NZ, but one tip I can give after living in a Fiat Doblo micro camper for a year is regarding the heat inside. During the summer it can quickly become unbearable to sleep inside, and the problem with running the engine for the A/C is that it only really cools the front cab. I used to use a 12v/USB fan to blow some of that cold air to the rear. I left the engine on for 20 minutes with A/C on maximum and recirculate and then using the fan I had it blowing air from the front to the back. It spreads around that cool air and it can make a BIG difference if you are trying to sleep on an evening after a hot day.
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist Жыл бұрын
Good idea if you can run engine unnoticed, here I couldn’t do it & gas is much too expensive too. I run a 5v fan from my solar battery, it’s silent and small breeze helps tremendously 👍

I used to live in cars in my younger years, soon I'll have to do it again, things are slightly harder, I'm much older although things like Amazon lockers make it easier. Also for anyone in the U.K. who doesn't have anyone to send their post to you can receive your post at many post offices you just have to check with them. I know other countries may have something similar. Sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere but if possible park so you.can drive straight out if you need to in the night, e.g without having to do a three point turn.

You should kiss the ass of the car, a car can protect you from cold an hot of you don't afford money to rent. A car can transport you wherever you like. A car can be a shelter, a transporter, a racer, a structure of a home only for bed. If you don't know the value of your car, you don't value yourself.

I think the hardest thing about living in a vehicle that you don’t have heating or cooling is in the summertime. I couldn’t handle that the winter time you can always bundle up. How do you handle it in the summer I couldn’t handle it I don’t know how anyone does. I watch these videos so I can learn because you never know when that might happen to me.
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist 8 ай бұрын
You got that right. In the summer keeping cool becomes an issue, especially at night when trying to sleep. I would freeze plastic soft drink bottles filled of water and sleep next to them. Also i'd find big shady trees to park under during the day to nap. Sleeping with the windows open is not a good option as mosquitos fly into the car and keep me awake! All the best

This is definitely one way to save a ton of money. What's sad about doing this is you have to have an address to receive mail and renew your drivers license. How do you keep your car doing this?

How often do you return or stay in the same place when sleeping?
@hobocyclist
@hobocyclist Жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin! staying often in the same place depends on what kind of vehicle you have. Because my car blends in and doesnt look like a campervan I can stay a few nights in a row in one spot (I always arrive after dark and leave early in the morning). I have 3 or 4 overnight spots that I rotate, and because of all the other cars parked along the roadside no one notices one more, and if they do they'll probably think its one of their neighbors! I have other spots for daytime parking, cooking, eating etc. Hope this helps and all the best. Andy
