My first trip to Bico I just recovered from 11 years of life halting anxiety. I contacted some people who go to Bico and they said they'd let me stay with their guild. I posted online I needed someone from my area to carpool with and a stranger said they needed a ride. I drove ten hours to a place I had never been, with a stranger, to tent with strangers, and I didn't know french lol. My carpool stranger is now one of my best friends, the guild I stayed with are all dear friends I only see at Bico. Go! Make amazing friends to visit each summer. It's an adventure that is so worth it.

Hope I will be able to come eventually but now seeing this makes me want to come more I play rogue in dnd and larp is somthing I have always wanted to play now knowing that people can kill your character will definitely add some more adventure and a kind of. Paranoia and it is fun trying to find out who has it for you beofore you find somthing that marks you for death also it’s nice to know somthing that may be coming
@St.Withers6 жыл бұрын
Thunder Storm fan mode I too have played my fair share of rogues in dnd haha. No one is allowed to permanently kill your character without permission at bico, but there are plenty of assassinations that go on still. Basically just like in the battles at bico, you die, and you go respawn. Hope that makes sense. They’re SUPER fun none the less. I completed around 5 assassinations during the week of bico 2018, and actually ended up making real money out of it! There’s truly nothing else like Bico
@thunderthunderstorms88286 жыл бұрын
Tahari Withers I figured that out as a dnd player I know some spells that can heal and revive (I also have seen a half orc pile of ash reform in dnd once yeah that was wierd but then again first game ever) still it’s nice to know about what dangers may lie ahead for characters (my first dnd character was a fighter with 9hp saved my butt with an insane ac for a first-second lv character).
@St.Withers6 жыл бұрын
Thunder Storm fan mode nice lol. Yeah there can be people around every corner waiting to kill you at bico. Just depends on who you make your friends and who you make your enemies haha. Also a pretty big part of bico’s land is a KOS (kill on sight) zone, which is cool. Big fields and woods around the giant fort is the KOS zone, and there are really long trails that you can take around there as well. Cool place

I actually want to go there so badly it makes me physically uncomfortable Like, I've always been obsessed with the history. For a long time, since I was little, I'd have daydreams of adult me gathering a group of similar history fanatics so we could build a medieval village and live there. To see it actually existing feels... unreal. And the fact that you can build a summerhouse there? One day, little, your dreams will come true. And the leaders speech, although very simple, was ridiculously motivating. I was sitting, feeling the adrenaline rush through me, with a strange thirst for war and action. I always was competitive as hell, bur this was new. Unexperienced bloodlust. You better bet I'll be learning French just for the sake of increasing my experience there.

Common misconception I've noticed is the use of the bows. I know it's not important but medieval archers didn't use quivers. They usually held their arrows in either their bow hand or their shooting hand and shot from the right side of the bow so they could ready their arrows quicker. It's not important but just interesting ^^
@Poodleinacan4 жыл бұрын
They did both. They could hold a bunch of arrows in a quiver then they could take a handful and fire arrows while they are holding on the arrows they just picked up. That sounds more logical then plainly holding on arrows until they can be fired.

The website for bico has a English setting and the voyage north is expensive but there are other mor affordable options.
@MoMoOBrien6 жыл бұрын
Zargonof There are definitely more affordable options. The chepeast would probably be to tent in the non-decorum area, though it’s really out of the way. The voyage north is honestly worth it though. For convenience, but also it’s really nice to be automatically put into a community at bicolline that speaks the same language as you. You feel a lot more at home at camp.
@Zargonof6 жыл бұрын
Nothing against the Ordo Cervi or the March wardens the voyage north does have its convenience. I know the Covent of the black rose does a amazing package for a great price as well other guilds also do similar even bicolline themselves do a package. Also the black rose are a great group of people. But there are other vacation package options that offer what TVN offers as well but in a smaller more personal level for cheaper. Also I enjoyed the video.
@parlour_ghost6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the price of TVN varies, but approximately how much is it?
@Zargonof6 жыл бұрын
@@parlour_ghost I can not tell you what they charge now but in 2016 I spent over 1200 usd for the basics which is double what I spent to go last year 2018. I didnt use TVN after 2016 I went with another guild.

Waited for this video for soo long. I want to go to Bico as soon as possible. I'm working on my character and ideas, might have to buy a couple of weapon, learn 2-3 medieval song with the violin and yeah ! For anyone who is scared about the french province of canada, don't worry, we all speak a bit of english, some from yes-no-toaster, to others being perfectly bilingual. We just have laws haha .... Surely the reason why Bicoline website is in French and not in English (which would be best) is because of Quebec law 101. Since Bicolline is considered a quebec company, the first language they use should be french if not, they pay tickets to the province.

Oh, hey, I just had a thought. I've taken a few years of French and I'm more or less somewhat decent at it, but I'm just realizing, I don't nessecarily know how to say Larp-related things in French. Like, how would one even say "Larp" in French? Like... 'un joue de vivant action' or something? I assume there's a different abbreviation in French. And then I got thinking, I bet MoMo's picked up at least a few French Larp-related words at Bicolline. So, I was wondering, would you be able to do a video on Larp-related French vocabulary, like useful French words and phrases for Bicolline? Just an idea, but I think it would be super cool to see!
