You couldn't tell it wasn't December by what he was wearing? It gets cold in New York during the winter and he's wearing a tank top in several scenes. Plus their filming for the second season of their show right now and I don't think he would have time for videos like this.

+Brothers Green Eats When I saw the first video of this min-series, I was thinking how entertaining it'd be if you guys did just that --- a series where you travel around to different countries with a limited amount of money allocated for food. Spend the days exploring the culture, buying food/ingredients, and then cooking meals that are popular in that particular region. I'd definitely watch that!

After watching this series I was inspired to be creative, so I made a no-crust pizza chip dip. I had some leftover pizza topping but no breading or tortillas. I chopped up some garlic, onions and mushrooms and put it in the plain pizza sauce, heated that up. I filled a plate with pepperoni and microwaved that for a minute to make it crispy, then cut it into little pieces with a scissors. Then I mixed the pizza sauce to the crispy pepperoni, added some cheese and heated that up. As that was heated up I took a plate and loaded it with whole grain chips that I had laying around. I pulled the sauce out, whipped it up a bit and plopped it in the middle of all those chips. Crispy Pizza Goodness! :) Thanks for the inspiration Brothers Green!

Got so inspired by these videos! Instead of going to lunch this afternoon, I got creative & made my leftovers into something new!:) I chopped up cauliflower & added in shredded carrots & cabbage to turn it into a stir fry, added the left over meat to add on top, & we had one egg left so I poached it & placed it top. Needless to say, it was so delicious & I ended up saving $10+! 👍😋🙌

I've had to be creative in my cooking. $900.00 a month, $669.00 for rent, and $60.00 phone bill. I'm lucky, my apartment has a microwave and a refrigerator. And a friend gave me a toaster oven. We don't have stoves. Cooking at times can be a challenge. And living on a TIGHT budget will make you think before you just buy whatever. Now, like you on your challenge, I like to see just how cheap I can cook.

Make sure to check different grocery stores out, don't be afraid to stock up on coupons and use them, when needed. Coupons are your friend, and are incredibly useful, for if you're someone who doesn't want to just eat instant noodles all the time. Each state is going to be different with their prices, even if you only buy one bell pepper, one onion, one tomato, that can last you for several days or so, if you cut it thinly enough. The state I live, the grocery stores: Aldi and Buehler's often have great foods for low prices. I normally don't go to Walmart, the prices can be good, but can also get added up super quick, whereas Aldi and Buehler's is often rather cheap with even their meat, at a good price.

You definitely taught me something about living on a budget :) Namely, how to buy ingredients with variety in mind. I've easily managed myself on $10-$15 a week for food, but mostly by taking advantage of my patience with food repetition. When I was eating on my own in Japan I basically lived off of rice, tuna, eggs and miniature bok choy. Otherwise I've eaten the same meal of quiche for lunch (pretty cheap meal if you know what you're doing) and fish with a miscellaneous vegetable and grain for dinner for easily two weeks at a time. Filling, healthy and satisfying, but tedious for most people. I'll be working as a paid volunteer for a year (so obviously not much cash), with a roommate who doesn't have much experience in the kitchen, so I've realized that I ought to break my habit lest to save the poor girl from dealing with my repetitive habits ;) This has given me oodles of ideas. I just hope she's willing to try them (and that she likes vegetables :P Haha).

Please do a $4 a day, with more home-made condiments, and without freebies! Also, please you can drink in the city, or eat something light, a few times (to not damage your image anymore). It's been a more than year and 9 months (two thirds) since this series ended, and maybe have that for the both of you brothers. So two people, $8 a day, for one whole month. That would be a challenge, and I think it will be well worth it!

Just finished watching this little series - EXCELLENT CHALLENGE. Not sure if you know this, but the USDA publishes a 'Cost of Food' report every month with four levels of spending: Thrifty, Low-Cost, Moderate, and Liberal. I just checked the report for November 2015, which I think is when you did this challenge, and for an adult male, age 19-50, the Thrifty Plan allowed for $43.20 per week. So you essentially lived on HALF of that. (A 1-year-old child is allotted $21.80 on the Thrifty Plan for that month - LOL!) Well done! Actually, it might be interesting for you guys to do some challenges based on different levels of those reports. Just a thought...love your work. www.cnpp.usda.gov/USDAFoodPlansCostofFood/reports

Great series and imaginative experiment. Figured you'd have food left over as well. So potentially, the next weeks you could increase your variety or have enough extra to buy 5# of sugar or specialty vinegar or ingredient. I also like powdered milk for cooking which initially is an outlay but keeps and stretches so is actually quite economical. Same with the larger 10-20# bags of beans and rice. The added bonus is that "eating healthy" doesn't need to be expensive, dull or time consuming. There was a lot of fiber and protein in nearly every dish you made and reasonably low in fats. And they looked like something people would enjoy.

4:42 : cup of berries, $4.95 You managed to make enough good, strong, and flavored meals for almost 2 days, which would cost the same as a cup of berries in a restaurant. This really opened my eyes about getting bang for your buck.

I haven't tried them yet, but I'm anxious to try the egg white buns. I can't believe I've never seen those in the paleo community. Why they always gotta be putting almond flour or coconut oil in everything? The egg white buns are simple, elegant, cheap, local, nutritious, and look delicious. You can see why I want to try them so badly!

Just finished this amazing challenge you put together and i have to say this is the most inspiring and awesome thing ever. Keep up the great work and i hope you put another 7 day challenge with new ingredients for 2016. Again you're a total badass for doing this and i plan on taking the challenge myself. You're on to something for sure.

This has inspired me enough to leave probably my first youtube comment ever! You guys have really inspired me to think more about the way we cook, the effects of eating out all the time on both our body and our wallet, and definitely given me a good challenge for 2017!

I got a few good ideas about stuff I really never looked at applying that kind of food engineering attention to! This works though and can practically be applied to other facets of daily habit changing and living with control bout things we just don't really attempt to usually change. The reward is a new level of self empowerment. Coolest inspiration is definitely go buy a house man! This kind of program works on focusing on obtainable goals!

Hey Brothers, This is really inspiring. I am a student and alot of my freinds lives on pasta and cheap sausage, but i wanted to prove to them that you can actually live on 3$ a day. So i invited 3 of them to my place and cooked a fine meal for them. They told me that it was the best food that they had eaten for a while. Then i told them that one meal cost me less then 1.5$ to make, they got absolutely flarbergasted haha. Thanks for inspiring me and spreading the art of making good cheap food!

This was such an amazing and inspiring challenge. As a student that lives off ramen and fast food (mostly), you really inspired me to try this out cause seriously even Ramen and crap fast food costs me more than that. Also, your cooking style is simple and fun and not like those fancy ass meal by other youtubers that I only watch but never attempt. Awesome job dude! Subscribed! And yes, New York is indeed one of the best city ever.

Great series! Definitely gonna try those banana egg pancakes sometime soon cause they looked delicious. The only thing that would've made this better is if you had a list of your nutrition intake at the end of each day's video. That way we could see if you were meeting or even exceeding your daily nutrition goals.

Meringue! I'm impressed with your abilities, supposed to be hard. However, I've only had it for desert (lemon meringue pie). Seriously you should do a series for people who are on food stamps, disability, etc. There is one-- but I think young people would be more interested in this.

Glad you managed to make it through the week eating good food and being creative....once you have a well stocked pantry with the basics most people could keep doing this for a long time without getting bored or going over budget.
