+Brothers Green Eats When I saw the first video of this min-series, I was thinking how entertaining it'd be if you guys did just that --- a series where you travel around to different countries with a limited amount of money allocated for food. Spend the days exploring the culture, buying food/ingredients, and then cooking meals that are popular in that particular region. I'd definitely watch that!

After watching this series I was inspired to be creative, so I made a no-crust pizza chip dip. I had some leftover pizza topping but no breading or tortillas. I chopped up some garlic, onions and mushrooms and put it in the plain pizza sauce, heated that up. I filled a plate with pepperoni and microwaved that for a minute to make it crispy, then cut it into little pieces with a scissors. Then I mixed the pizza sauce to the crispy pepperoni, added some cheese and heated that up. As that was heated up I took a plate and loaded it with whole grain chips that I had laying around. I pulled the sauce out, whipped it up a bit and plopped it in the middle of all those chips. Crispy Pizza Goodness! :) Thanks for the inspiration Brothers Green!

Instead of going to lunch this afternoon, I got creative & made my leftovers into something new!:) I chopped up cauliflower & added in shredded carrots & cabbage to turn it into a stir fry, added the left over meat to add on top, & we had one egg left so I poached it & placed it top. Needless to say, it was so delicious & I ended up saving $10+! 👍😋🙌

You definitely taught me something about living on a budget :) Namely, how to buy ingredients with variety in mind. I've easily managed myself on $10-$15 a week for food, but mostly by taking advantage of my patience with food repetition. When I was eating on my own in Japan I basically lived off of rice, tuna, eggs and miniature bok choy. Otherwise I've eaten the same meal of quiche for lunch (pretty cheap meal if you know what you're doing) and fish with a miscellaneous vegetable and grain for dinner for easily two weeks at a time. Filling, healthy and satisfying, but tedious for most people. I'll be working as a paid volunteer for a year (so obviously not much cash), with a roommate who doesn't have much experience in the kitchen, so I've realized that I ought to break my habit lest to save the poor girl from dealing with my repetitive habits ;) This has given me oodles of ideas. I just hope she's willing to try them (and that she likes vegetables :P Haha).

Love the intention, energy, enthusiasm, honesty, joy, playfulness, creativity, and love. I hope to tackle a similar challenge soon while figuring out the nutrient profile of each meal. You had relatively nutritious meals made with such a positive energy that every ounce of nutrient density was presented and absorbed in your body while any 'anti nutrients' were dealt with accordingly. It IS about food quality, but it's as much about energy and you rocked it :) So pleased to have stumbled on you and this challenge!

I've had to be creative in my cooking. $900.00 a month, $669.00 for rent, and $60.00 phone bill. I'm lucky, my apartment has a microwave and a refrigerator. And a friend gave me a toaster oven. We don't have stoves. Cooking at times can be a challenge. And living on a TIGHT budget will make you think before you just buy whatever. Now, like you on your challenge, I like to see just how cheap I can cook.

Make sure to check different grocery stores out, don't be afraid to stock up on coupons and use them, when needed. Coupons are your friend, and are incredibly useful, for if you're someone who doesn't want to just eat instant noodles all the time. Each state is going to be different with their prices, even if you only buy one bell pepper, one onion, one tomato, that can last you for several days or so, if you cut it thinly enough. The state I live, the grocery stores: Aldi and Buehler's often have great foods for low prices. I normally don't go to Walmart, the prices can be good, but can also get added up super quick, whereas Aldi and Buehler's is often rather cheap with even their meat, at a good price.

As someone (I'm in my late 40's) who's had to live like this at times, and has been doing this for years, it does change how you see food and wasting it. And getting really creative with what you have, but you took this to a whole other level!!!! I was sitting here watching all your videos on this challenge and just in awe of what you came up with. And I am always cooking like this, getting really creative and doing stuff that seems weird, but it almost always comes out really good. You blew me away! I have new goals!! Your food knowledge is amazing! And mixed with your creativity just mind blowing!!! This is incredible and I saved this whole series because I am coming back to all these and trying some of this (I will have to get more creative working around the high carb count, as I have to limit my carb intake) and I know this will help me by leaps and bounds to come up with new stuff and challenge myself to think more outside of the box than I already do! I like buying the bag of like 80 corn tortillas because its like $3 or less and you can use them for a lot of things. Far superior in texture for dinner enchiladas than flour ones.
