My life until now has been utter and completely misery since my thyroid was removed have both dio1 and dio2 polymorphism and getting my hormone dose right has been like solving the riddle of the universe. The people who don’t do well on T4 their life totally destroyed I know many of them.

Don't give up. Look for a new prescriber who is more familiar with situations like yours.

@@DrChristianson I'd love some recommendations. I've seen 3 different endos locally and two were the "best" recommended by other physicians. No one I've seen wants to do anything but retest, slightly change my meds & tell me to lose weight. (Thanks, Dr. Endo, but you took my thyroid, how am I supposed to do that?) I'm really frustrated. 30lbs up after surgery 10 years ago and so far no luck. I have now developed fatty liver. I exercise regularly, watch my food intake and still feel pretty tired and fat. Oh yeah, & insulin resistant. I suppose that's my fault too. I can show you MyFitness Pal, it's not my diet. Seriously, recommendations welcome. I'm already spending hundreds out of pocket each month for tests and tirosint since I became sensitive to inactive ingredients. What's a few $1000 more?

Great video. Very informative! I recently had my thyroid removed and have had many TSH tests. No one told me about what to do before the test or the timing.

Good day, am so happy to see you here I had a thyroid surgery and still in the hospital but my calcium is low and the doctors are not getting why it not coming up, can you help me please my face, hands, feet are numb am living in Jamaica please help with many thanks.

Hi - please follow up with other doctors if needed. Sometimes, thyroid surgery can damage the parathyroid glands.

You should eat TUMS every 30 minutes until the symptoms disappear. My doctor told me to do that I just had surgery 2 days ago

Felt better than they did before the thyroidectomy? Well I have perfectly normal thyroid function but maybe I’ll feel better if I just get it removed😂 Excuse me but sounds like Dr Spin not wanting to be honest with the poor patient and telling them they should feel better than they do, putting it back on them! Nice work Doc!

Hi Dr.C, i’m reading your book and watching your videos i always test for low iodine in every sort of test, and i eat a lot of seaweed and a very rich healthy diet, what could be the cause of this? And is taking iodine drops a solution when i have hashimoto’s and also hypothyroidism (from rai years ago) Thank you! 😊 🙏🏻

My mom had her thyroid removed many years ago and has lived on Synthroid. My question is in a catastrophic event like an EMP where there’s a grid down situation and no way to get the medication. Is there any other natural supplements I can stock up on now like iodine? Selenium? or do you have to have a thyroid in order to absorb the iodine? Are you pretty much screwed if you run out of medication?

@@brandymoreno382 no, minerals would not replace the hormone. Thyroid hormone will be made inside a thyroid. many people keep an extra several month supply of medication’s for reasons like this.

How are patients supposed to know anything when vitamin D testing is no longer considered medically necessary ? They will not test for it anymore. It’s the biggest hormone for all body systems and thyroid patients are at a huge risk without this being tested

I'm 3 years out from my total thyroidectomy due to a malignant tumor, and they've been testing and tracking my vit. D the entire time. They said having it in the healthy range is a primary part of my remission treatment regimen.
