It DOES NOT WORK for the UR44 when connected to an iPhone. The Loopback mode IS NOT SUPPORTED (took me hours to find out). It would help to say it clearly so that the customer knows what he/she’s gonna get (and what not) - otherwise it only creates confusion. The truth helps the brand as well as the customer.

I think I tried this! Similar setup but unfortunately when they were talking, it wasn’t coming through the headphones and the audio was coming out of the phone speaker for some reason! Not sure what settings need to be tweaked here!

Well hi there! I have the audient id4 audio interface (which takes power from a pc or laptop only), an iPhone XS, akg p220 condenser microphone & also a tc helicon play acoustic vocal & guitar processor! My question is if I can connect my vocal processor to the audio interface & get effects like reverb, delay etc, on my vocals & acoustic guitar & stream live on Instagram? If yes, I’ll surely get the apple camera adapter which has a USB A & lightning port so that I can power the iPhone because my microphone might need phantom power or is it not gonna work because the iPhone can’t power the interface? However my vocal processor can be powered via dc! Could this work? 🤔

You need powered USB hub to get the interface to work on iPhone ( if you use other interface than steinberg)

Hi!. if I connect the interface to my iPhone to livestream on Instagram (using both channels to plug my microphone and guitar), can I have a backing track as well?

Of course. You can have as many channels as there are on your interface and control them all from your app! If you only have two channels, you might be able to sum your voice and guitar into one stereo couple assigned to the master channel, and route the backing track to the second input. I'm not sure.

I have a UR44 and I can't turn on Loopback on my iPhone. Why is Dom able to turn on Loopback? I guess is because he is using the UR44C and the app on the iPhone is different with more functions than the one available for the UR44 (this app is 2 years old now with no updates since then). But he says that any UR unit can do what he is doing in the video. It is misleading. I just bought the lightning to usb adapter because of this video and can't use the reverb live. He must say that in order to turn on Loopback and use the reverb live, you need to buy a URC unit. Not any UR unit.

Wilfredo Nanita hey Wilfredo! The Loopback button on the UR44 is located in a different place. It should be in the page if you click the cogwheel icon on the app. It works exactly in the same way. Have you tried this? Make sure your UR44 has the latest firmware too.

Also how did you get the audio working for the live streaming? I have a UR44. I've managed to connect it to my iphone successfully via Lighting to USB 3 adapter and getting audio perfectly. Also have the DSP Mix FX app. Only issue is it's not recording audio on my Camera App or Via Instagram even though I hear the audio on my headphones during recording. I'm using Inputs 3 and 4 on my Steinberg as stereo coming from my mixer. (Does it only work through Input 1 and 2 which are Hi - Z inputs?) Is there something I'm doing wrong?? Any help appreciated!! I've found a lot of the streaming apps on iphone disable the external audio input. KZbin for example seems to do this, and the only way I've found around it is to use the lightning port's audio connection. Is there a setting in the KZbin studio app to change to external audio?

Connect the headphone jack of the iPad to input of the interface. You may need a TRRS-TRS cable or a 1/4th" TRS adapter.

Yes; long as you have the proper adapter/cable for that device and an available line-level input like in the video, you can add whatever device you want.

I don't have one of those interfaces but do have one which I can plug directly into my iPhone which works fine when using something like Garageband and it records the high quality audio I'm sending from my computer connected to the interface but as soon as I go into any live app such as Bigo Live or Twitch they revert to using the built-in microphone. Is there anything else we need to do nowadays in order to get this to work or have live streaming apps changed and made this much more difficult now? I'm not sure if you can, but personally, I wouldn't want to mess with it during a live. (It would seem unprofessional). I would just set my audience to private, record a quick test video, then go back and listen. Make my adjustments, and do more tests until I get it right before actually going live on public settings. Hope that makes sense.

I believed you can plug in your additional audio sources such as from your second phone as an another input directly to your audio interface if they have additional inputs (the same way you connect your guitar input or vocal) Weather that showed up as blended tracks or multi-tracks will depend on your audio interface and/or mixer that you plug in.
